Default Short intro

I have a huge interest in neurology and I can't but be a big fan of Oliver Sacks.

Myself I have autoimmune issues with traits of Sjogren's and Lupus. I also have bouts of tics and the last flare was after a strep infection. Also I'm the high end of the autistic spectrum and I'm said to also have ADD.

I'm quite a brainiac even if I rarely come across as one, people tell me I'm more funny and random.

I've adopted my nick (which is a song title) from a friend I never got to know as well as I wanted, we lost him 13 years ago to suicide.

Thanks for having me on this forum.

Hi fadetoblack,

Welcome to the forum! I have had epilepsy for 42 yrs. along with having 2 brain surgeries to help reduce my seizures. I have really gotten into neurology a lot over the yrs. and I have learned many new things that can help a person with a nervous disorder. One thing that works great for me is taking vitamin B12 1000 mcg. for adult 500 mcg. for kids and that has done wonders reducing my seizures. You may want to give it a try to help the ADD and autism. Also I have learned that you have to be careful what you eat because to many starch food or carbs. can fire up the nervous system causing a person to have more neurology problems, also stay away from anything with nutra sweet (aspartame) that definitely will cause more electrical activity in the brain and cause more problems. You may want to try taking zinc 50 mg. once a day to help strengthen your immune system. I wish you only the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Sue

Thanks all. Yea I'm prone to deficiencies, my lupus thing eats my vitamins and iron. I have B12, folate and iron checked when I go in for checkups (been a while ago now unfortunately since I got kicked out from my rheumathologist and my GP refused to deal with me). Even when I'm not in treatment I take extra vitamin B's.

If I lost my autism and ADD traits I would no longer be me so even if I was offered a total cure I'd turn it down. I'd rather just address the troublesome parts like I get stressed out quite easily.
