Default Back teeth

Hi, can someone with knowledge help me please?

I had one of my back lower teeth filled 3 years ago and one of my top back teeth removed 4 years before that.

The lower tooth has never been successful because my Dentist said that the upper tooth is no longer there to support eating action. I accepted this and was due to have the lower tooth removed two years ago, but then it settled down.

I have a problem with numbing of my back teeth and my last visit was extremely painful bringing uncontrolled tears, not because I wanted to cry, it just happened.

As of last week, I have some pain in the upper back tooth (which is no longer there) when I drink something or eat something spicy or too hot or too cold. The pain is in the extraction area and seems to last quite awhile before going away. If I put pressure on my face, it seems to help.

I am a chronic sinus sufferer, and have been for years now. I seem to suffer from all sorts of allergens, or so I think. My Doctor says it is hayfever, but I think it is dust from my husbands clothes, just to name one thing. He is a wood worker and I am sure this doesnt help me. However certain food does also make my sinus worse and I try to stay away from them.

At present my noise is sore and dry inside and I can feel some pressure in my sinus's. I discovered last year that if I lay down at night with lots of pillows I can stop fluid going into my inner ear drum and making it feel blocked, this still happens if I forget and push my pillows away, but more in the other side of my face.

It is very hot here at the moment and I am not a hot weather person. I was wondering if this could put extra pressure on my sinus, as I have had terrible headaches, but also wondering if the lower tooth could be affecting this upper back tooth area.

The confusing thing is that the same kind of pain is affecting the other side of my mouth in the same area, but only sometimes. I am sure from memory I have a cracked crown on that side that my Dentist has been waiting on getting worse before he attends to it, or perhaps he was giving me time after the last lot of work.

I am a bit of a problem to him as I really worry about any work on my back teeth. An extraction of a lower tooth will worry me, if the pain relief does not work.

I remember years ago a Dentist saying that the usual place for numbing my teeth was slightly different to what he expected. Does this make sense?

Hoping that some light can be shed on this before I see the Dentist. I like to be informed.

Thank you in advance.

Hello issy,

Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

Sorry to read about your headaches and tooth problems.

Hot weather certainly can bring on headaches and so can problems with teeth. Make sure you're drinking lots and lots of water if you're not used to the heat.

You could repost over on the

Dentistry & Dental Issues Forum

I hope you find some relief soon.

take care.

Very interesting, as a number of years ago I had terrible trouble with a back molar that needed a root canal, but the nerves in my face reacted and I was put on tablets they use for Parkinsons to give me some relief. The only problem was that I ended up sleeping for nearly 3 weeks, until I was better. This happened twice, but nothing since then. I guess I am that sort of person.

Thank you for your opinion.
