Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is jeff, I am the main caretaker to my father who was diagnosed with parkinsons in 2004. I am still in school and my mother still works full time. He has been on stalevo and azilect for 5+ years, but within the last year, the drugs have had little to no effect and his on time has decreased to ~45mins. I am eagerly trying to find new therapy's for him as his current neurologist have exhausted all of her options. Im hoping through this forum I can get insight from other PWP or CT to better help my dad. I look forward to meeting you all.

Hi and glad you found this group. Everyone is very helpful. My cousin's husband dealt with PD for probably 10 yrs or so and he passed last year from complications of bowel issues. My thinking is making sure magnesium is taken as magnesium is a huge deficiency in our population period. Magnesium helps so much and also keeps things moving. I'm certainly not a doctor but study a lot of alternatives for many years. Vitamin D is important too for everyone.

There is a PD group here so hope you'll look for it.

I just did a little search and found this interesting site.

http://www.parkinsons.org/parkinsons...-medicine.html

I noted with interest the Ayurvedic medicine Mucuna Puriens used in India for many years.

I believe with any health challenge, we need to look at everything.

Do a lot of research and good luck with this challenge. I'm sure you are sharing everything with your mother.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I found the parkinsons section and have learned a great deal so far. It's so great to finally be able to read and share experiences with others with this disease.

Does anybody know how many posts, or certain actions I need to do to have full account access? I want to PM a user, but seems like I don't have the ability yet.

THanks,
Jeff

Hi there
We don't discuss the post numbers on the forum as then it defeats the anti-spam reasons for having the restrictions.
Just post a bit more and you will be able to access the full features.
