Ive been on Neurontin and now Lyrica the wonder drug to Australia but only put on weight and hasnt settled chronic regional pain syndrome been on for twelve months, I asked my dr if it caused weight increase NO ????????? and occasionally I forget to take my Lyrica it reminds me by giving me the stomach shakes and shivers almost like giving up drugs I believe not knowing about this I wondered if other people with this problem dealt with this> I am also on paroxetine for my problems with depression because of the vicious cycle of pain and indocid and panadeine forte and oxynormin and others dealing with the many problems I seem to be having. I am presently reducing my meds and only taking pain and anti inflammatory drugs and reducing lyrica and paroxetine because I dont think that they are working at all = more trouble than worth I feel spacy. Please let me know if anyone has experienced problems with mostly lyrica and paroxetine.

Hi Relief4pain
Welcome. I am sorry that you are having such troubles but glad that you found us. I was on Lyrica as well and gained 30 lbs in two months. It seems to be a somewhat common side effect for some of the members here. Some others have had no problem with the drug. It can affect each individual differently. Here is thread that talks about the effects of Lyrica http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ghlight=lyrica Based on your weight gain I would ask your doc for a 2 hour glucose test to check your sugar. And if you are tyring to come off the drug please discuss with your doc because you need to titrate slowly off of it. ![]() |

Hi relief and welcome to NeuroTalk.
I took paroxetine for a long time. Be very careful coming off of this stuff. For some it is really difficult. For me, nearly impossible. My doctor ended up weaning me for several months by using the liquid Paxil. I dropped 1 mg weekly until I could get off without severe withdrawal symptoms. You'll get great support here. ![]()

Not with lyrica but I do take Neurontin. Do you take them both? I have to say Neurontin is one of the harshes drugs I've ever dealt with. BUt as much as I don't like it, it really helps my neuropathic symptomatology. After I come out of the fog, I do have a little more productive day. I try not to take them every night, but probably 2 times a week, maybe. I'm better than I was. The only way you can tell if the meds are helping your condition is do wifhout them and see if you miss them, if you do better with them.
It's tough on your system. Other meds have side effects too. You have to do what you have to do. Hope you find some relief for your symptoms in other ways besides meds. Have patience (Broken Wings) |

Oh, and I forgot to say, the weight just crept up on me with the Paxil. Ugh. Now that I'm off it, I've steadily lost that poundage. 20 solid pounds!
