Wink First timer

Hi everybody,

Last couple days I've been reading a lot of post. I wanted to thank everybody for sharing. Was looking online to find what to expect when I fly for the first time next week (scary) with my PCS. This was the only place I found answers. And it was what I expected. With the symptoms I have. I have severe sensitivity to light and sound constant headaches everyday ranging to severe to tolerable. Dizziness light headed nausea. Smell and taste still isn't a 100% yet. A long with anxiety and depression. Symptoms are worse the more my head hurts. I have one symptom that I haven't seen. When I'm feeling really bad I get discoloration around my eyes and behind my ears. They look like bruises. I've had PCS for 2yrs this June. The neurologist I saw said 6 months to a year for recovery. Obviously very wrong. Does anyone else get the bruises that resemble battle wounds. I seriously believe my brain swells for whatever reason. Would appreciate any and all feedback

Thanks for listening
Krystal

Hi Krystal,

Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

You'll find lots of information over on the

Traumatic Brain Injury & Post Concussion Syndrome Forum

There are past posts there by the way regarding PCS and flying. You could search the forum using the Forum Search Feature . Just scroll down and click on TBI forum and search for posts.

The appearance of the bruises sounds concerning. I hope that resolves very fast. Take care of yourself.

Hello Krystal and Welcome to Neurotalk Support Groups

I am sorry for the pain and anxiety you have been struggling with. Making the adjustment to those kinds of life changes is never fun. You have found a soft place to land with many helpful and supportive people.

EDIT* It looks like mine and Lara's posts came at the same time. So a little redundancy here.

You may have already found the page for PCS Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Concussion Syndrome

There are "Sticky" Threads at the top of that forum with tips on treatments and links to articles.

You will find Search and FAQ features at the top of every forum page to help find specific posts and answer many common questions.

I hope your flight goes as comfortably as possible. You might consider making yourself a care pack with eye mask, ear plugs, OTC analgesics, soft music, gum, etc. Whatever makes you more comfortable. I find flying without Bonine for motion sickness impossible - it doesn't make you drowsy and may help with dizziness.

Welcome aboard. I hope you find relief and healing soon.
