Default Newbie with recent TIA- Looking For Info & Support

Hello!

I have just discovered your boards.

I am a 60y/o f. I have had my second TIA or small stroke. I was in ICU for three days...medical floor for four days. My first TIA was years ago. This one left more deficits. It affected my thinking, speech, mobility and stamina. But I am lucky, it could have been worse.

My thinking, speech and mobility have improved...but I am still exhausted. Why am I so tired?

Hello Precaryous,

Welcome to NeuroTalk.

Here is also the link to the
Stroke Forum

You could also try a search for "transient ischemic attack" or "transient ischaemic attack" (spelling varies with regions). Here is the link to the forum search feature below ...

You've been through a lot. I hope that you find improvement and strength as time passes. It's my understanding that fatigue is common after a TIA. It would probably be a good idea to talk with your Doctor next time you see her/him regarding that tiredness. Take care of yourself there.

Hello and Welcome,

You will find many supportive people here. I too hope that more improvements come with time. The brain and body have an amazing capacity for healing. You have been through an ordeal. Think how long it takes to recover full strength just from having the flu! Talking it over with your doctor is a good idea.

In the meantime, be kind to yourself, eat and rest well and keep stress down as you can. Recovery is hard work and is often gradual so hang in there.

Sending healing thoughts,
