Default Rsd

Hi there
Im a newbie and my names Alison. Ive just been diagnosed with RSD in my left leg. Can someone please give me some information about it?
Im currently seening, Physiotherapists, Pain Managment Team, Occupational Therapists.
Ive also had a nerve block which had no side effect. Ive been prescribed Gabapentin and Ive become even worse, Im extremely wobbly, can someone tell me if this is a side effect. Im also having breathing difficulties when I (try) and work short distances and when I shut my mouth for short periods, ie, 30 seconds or so.
Can someone please help me?
Thanks
Alison

Default Yes, Allfe--

--unfortunately, dizziness, vertigo, unsteadiness and the like are common side effects of Gabapentin (and, in fact, of most of the anti-seizure drugs that are also prescribed for nerve pain reduction).

Neurotalk has one of the biggest and most active RSD/CRPS communities out there, though, and a very extensive database about the condition and its treatments, so I'm sure you're going to get all kinds of advice/information over at that part of the board.

Welcome, Alison! There is a great search engine in the blue toolbar and I see that you've been pointed toward the RSD forum. If we can help in any way, just let us know.

allison , hi sorry about your dx i'm also dealing with rsd it's a challenge . i was on gabapentin for over a yr. but my dosage was getting so high and i had little relief. my dr. took me off of it and put me on lyrica capsules she started me out on a low dose and eventually got me up to a dose that is working better than 9-12 capsules of gabapentin a day. i take 3 of the lyrica 1 every 6 hrs. it doesn't relieve all the pain but it works better than the gabapentin. you may want to try it . best to you gail
