Smile Hello! I'm a new member from Canada

I was a Sales Manager for a corporation and while on a business trip on Feb. 10th, 2005, I had a brain aneurysm that ruptured at the airport. It was a Category 4 aneurysm, so it was quite severe. The good thing was that I was at the Gate to board my plane and it ruptured right before I boarded. I collapsed and was rushed by Airport Security to a hospital. I had brain surgery to clip the aneurysm the next morning and was 'on death's door' for two more weeks. Remained in ICU for 6 weeks, then flew home, where I spent the next 6 months in Rehabilitation Hospitals, then 6 months of Home care. I had to re-learn everything...walking, etc.

It was certainly a life-changing experience; I'm lucky, I'm in the 5% that makes a complete recovery.

Now....I've learnt to finally take the time to smell the roses....

Smile Thanks for the kind words!

It's great to be part of a forum with so many survivors....unless you've experienced it first-hand, you don't know how tough it can be.

Now that I'm back to pretty-well normal (is there such a thing!!) I'm happy to just be alive!!

Not sure why I lived when so many others don't make it...in the first months of my recovery, I kept thinking I had to do something 'profound & meaningful'...now I know that I just have to "be"...
