Good morning from the UK!
It's been a while since I posted and what with health issues/personal issues (you know how it goes), I haven't been on here for a while, so I thought I would re introduce myself. My name is Saffy and I live in the Derbyshire Dales in the UK. I am now registered disabled and living in pain daily. I am trying to find little things to do that will occupy me and I belong to a Chronic Pain Forum on Facebook and really enjoy giving support and encouragement to others on there, so I thought, why not pop back here and do the same. So, that is what I hope to do. I've attached a photo that was taken on holiday on the beautiful island of Kefalonia. After one of my back surgeries, I got fed up of the 'no bending, no lifting' etc and decided to book a week away. I have found the most glorious little fishing village on this stunning Greek Island that is absolutely perfect for me and my disabilities. We go every year now and with the locals knowing me, I know that if I ever need any help, there is always someone that will say "Of course" and that means an awful lot when you are mobility impaired. Perhaps, in another post, I will tell you more about my secret little destination, as it's always nice to know of places that have great disabled access. Until then ... Hello from a wet and windy UK, and - it's good to be back. |

Hello Saffy: Thanks for the reintroduction. I'm still pretty new here on NT & I don't spend a lot of time here... just pop over now-&-then from PsychCentral where I'm a more active member.
I don't travel. Actually I rarely even leave the house! But I'm always interested in picturesque places. So, if you do post more about Kefalonia, I'll be interested... particularly if there are pictures! I'm sorry you are struggling with chronic pain. I have a ruptured disc in my low back. It impinges on the sciatic nerve. So I have the sciatica as well. However, I've managed to avoid having any kind of medical / surgical intervention for it. Anyway... thanks for your post! |

Many thanks Skeezyks - I'll pull up a chair and try and get comfortable.
I'm sorry you don't travel ... is this because of pain or something else? I have a BIG event (for me anyway) next year, when we are going to London for the night - I suffer anxiety/panic attacks and have already been on the phone to the Hotel making sure I can book a parking space etc. Etc. Am sure they must think I'm crazy, but I have to have everything planned otherwise I worry like mad. |

I'm sorry you don't travel ... is this because of pain or something else? Hi Saffy: Hope you're well. Neither my wife nor I are travelers by nature. We've always pretty-much been homebodies. Plus, we're both retired & living on a fixed income. So, while we're comfortable, we don't feel as though we want to spend money on anything that isn't necessary. I also, over the years, have become pretty-much reclusive. I just keep to myself. (I do have a good internet friend who lives somewhere outside of London... not sure exactly where.) Thanks for asking! |

Saffy,
So good to see you post again. You have pretty much described myself. I recall the awful time you had with the infection where the battery of the SCS was placed. You eventually had to go thru some nasty issues for the removal as well. I'm glad you are still up to doing some traveling. I pretty much have given up on it. The side effects of the pain meds have caused me to take 3 to 4 doses a day of a laxative just to keep from getting impacted. Makes me kinda want to be close to the comfort of my Toto Washlet Toilet Seat.. I have found wandering to different sites, other than strictly spinal issues, has been interesting. Sooooo pull up your chair and get comfy... Gerry |

Oh hello there Gerry .. long time no speak/read/write.
It's good to be back. Having a rough week or so tiring out Baclofen again. Did hope I'd been 'imagining' the side effects from the last time I tried it, but noooo. Eugh! Stuck at the moment with a massive back spasm that is taking over, but I,will start to post more and show an interest in other people's posts. I tend to wander round too, I must admit. Facebook is probably my main way of keeping in contact with others and gossiping, aswell as giving support to others in Chronic pAin Groups. I'll never forget just how good this place was for me though and all the wonderful support and care I got. Take care and I'll have a nosey on posts and see what trouble you've been causing. |
