Default greetings

Our family lived at the Mayo Clinic for several months about seven years ago. We were on the road in one hospital after the other for the better part of a year and a half. Our then 3.5 year old son, Sol, had a sudden onset very severe sz disorder (initially diagnosed LG and now Doose).

The most positive thing in that first year and a half was this web-forum. Not only in terms of the social support but also the information--really really remarkable.

Oddly, I am now a Web 2.0 guy--thinking about how technology, and community driven technology in particular, can change the world. I have yet to find a more powerful application of technology than this forum. Living in our son's illness for seven years now has been more of everything (grace and hope and love and grief and desperation and despair and redemption and hope--it comes back) than I could speak but now perhaps I will come back to the community as something of a resource.

Anyway, this feels a bit like a note to nobody in particular--if you are reading this as a newbie, you have found the right place--if you are reading this as a veteran of the site, thanks for the time you are spending away from children, etc.--if you are a site admin, thanks--this is profound work you are doing.

all for now,
rgds,
Ed

Hi, Ed, Glad to have you along. It sounds like you'll have a lot to offer others and that's what we're all about around here.
