My son was born three months early and is now entered first grade . Last year we had many problems in kindergarten . This year he is doing better but still is having problems . this weeks he hit a child in the head with rocks out at recess , he also took a child money that was sitting on his tray . I have taken him in and had him tested for add adhd they first said he had it they prescribe him medication and it did not work it made thing worse. So we took him off of the medication and he is now in social skills class at school . does any one have any suggestion for me . I have three other children they are all girls. None of them have ever had any of these problems each week it is something new with my son . If there is anyone out there with a similar situation please let me know what you have done.

What about getting a second opinion or a reevaluation plus a complete physical?
Be sure to find a very knowledgeable dr/professional.
Also there are different meds that may work better than the one that was tried, if those are found to be needed.

Just a suggestion, but have you thought about having your child tested for food intolerances.
I have seen some absolutely astonishing changes in adults and children when certain types of food have been identified as causing adverse reactions (not allergies), and been ommited from the diet

I agree with Ardale, and also wonder if you have considered psychiatry. There may be underlying medical issues with him that a pediatrician could miss.

I'm Donna and I'm a parent advocate in Indiana. I would say that it sounds like you need more than just a eduational psychological evaluation. And I would suggest a neuropsychological evaluation. I would specifically have them see what kind of things are affected with his what looks like ADD/ADHD
there are a couple of other things that are very much like this. And they
aren't treated with medication.

I would also as someone suggested recommend along with the social skills classes at school that you see about a psychologist and psychiatrist that
specializes in children's issues.
