Default New to the site

Since July I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Lyme Disease and other countless mini disorders...

My outlook has been pretty good until lately. I just started a new job and I want to make new friends there, but I'm so afraid that these conditions will get in the way. Also, I am taking so many pills and supplements and it's getting difficult to hide them.

I always feel like I'm hiding something... I know I have nothing to be ashamed of but I already lost one job because of being sick....I don't want it to happen again.

Any advice?

Hi veryberry and Welcome to NeuroTalk. I can relate to your Fibro problems. I suffer from that, plus a few other little goodies thrown into the mix. However, the fatigue can be horrible. Just try and get as much rest as you can. I used to come home from work and crash on the sofa for a power nap.

You sound like an outgoing person, so you'll no doubt, make new friends easily. You have one new friend already.... ME!

Check out the Fibro forum and Welcome again.

PS: Don't feel guilty or bad about having Fibro or trying to hide it. You'll know if and when the time is right to share your condition w/others. Good luckw/the new job!

Default Hi and welcome,

I too deal with Fibro, CFS, and to many other things. I find it hard to work. My fatigue really keeps me down. As far as the Fibro, you might want to get into some PT. That helps with the pain and getting the sore spots out of you.

As far as the meds. You have to take them, so I would worry about what people might think. I am open about what I take, which is Methadone and I just let people know I'm on it. I don't get any flax from it. I think nowadays people are getting more understanding to people being on meds. There is more tv coverage about the illnesses and meds anymore so it's out there.

Hope you start feeling better soon. I'm glad you found us. You will learn a lot here.

Ada

One big, warm, tight, hug, handshake and howdy, moose-sized official type welcome. This site is amazing!

As far as advice, I would do my best to down play the pills. Even lie if you have to. "I have a lot of allergies". Or find a way not to take them near your co-workers. But always remember:

You are not alone.
You are one of us.
And we are here to help.
