dear angie,
I am sorry you hurt, but as it is I am also a member of this great forum
because I have had Parkinson's disease for over 10 years, and we may not be brilliant, but we will listen and tell you our experiences...

Hi Angi and Welcome to NeuroTalk. You're physician must be very smart to refer you to NT. This place is amazing and you'll find so much info, support and compassion here. Just the feeling that there are so many others out there that really understand what you are going through, is amazing.

Glad to have you with us.

Angi,

Welcome to nt! I am sorry to hear your PN is rearing its ugly head. We have a very smart and caring PN forum here. Feel free to jump in anywhere and let us know if we can help in anyway.

Angi,
I had sever peripheral neuropathy following a factured sacrum 20 years ago.I was disabled for a year with this. My advise is to first decide if this is a pain that is well known to you and if it provides no useful information. Do you already know all you will ever need to know about it? If true, then you have no need to pay attention to it. Next, distract your mind away from thinking about the pain by doing something that requires all lof your attention. A intense computer game perhaps, a horror movie. Race car drivers can cut themselves while racing and not feel anything. After this works for you gradually learn to redirect you attention away from the pain by intensly concentration on whatever you are doing. Sounds spooky, but it works. Drrcdavis

Default Hi Angi, come on over to

the 'peripheral neuropathy' forum! Just click on this blue site:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum20.html and you will find us.

I think you are lucky to have a doc that isn't afraid of the internet, and also isn't afraid of us! I suggest that you start with the 'important links' called 'sticky's at the top of the page. This has lots of good info about PN that are useful to keep and refer to. It will also help you learn 'PN' doctor speak and maybe help you understand what all is going on to make that awful pain. I do hope to see you there soon!

I also hope that the pain let's up a bit and gives you a little break - I know how it feels! - j
