i just had my first back surgery on november 14th, 2007. six months to the day, i am having another one
![]() partial lumbarization of the s-1 with a rudimentary intervertebral disc at the s1/s2 level. the left lateral recess disc extrusion is not significantly changed in appearance with the previous examination. there remains significant central canal stenosis asymmetric to the left, left lateral recess stenosis, and left l5/s1 neural foraminal narrowing. i am having surgery again... but what exactally should we be doing about everything else??? i'm so confused and i hate dealing with doc's sometimes because they blow off ligit questions. well, to me they are ligit cause i'm the one who didn't go to med school and i have no idea what all this means??? is the rest of this stuff going to bother me forever or will it go away??? thank you so much!!! ![]() |

Hi there lvnlife1999, and welcome to NeuroTalk.
From what you've written I'm assuming that you have terrible back problems and with that in mind, I'm going to refer you to out Spinal Disorders Forum. Here's the direct link: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum22.html There are some wonderful people over in that forum, and I'm sure you'll get answers and support from those there. I'm sorry that I'm not able to interpret MRIs, but gee whizz. I do wish I could interpret my own! I have to agree with you in that department! Why can't we all have a report that every one of us can understand? Seeing that we're paying in the long run, you'd think we could actually have reports that mean something to us. Welcome again, it's so nice to meet you. I hope you get the answers that you're looking for. ![]()

Hi and welcome to NeuroTalk!!
![]() I'm sorry for all the problems you're having with your back. I've tried to understand the terminology in my MRI, too, and just can't. I have to trust my Neuro to explain it to me in terms I can understand!! Like Koala said, there are wonderful people on the Spinal Disorders forum and hopefully they will be able to help you. You're welcome on all the forums, too, and I hope you find the answers and support you're seeking. Glad to have you here! ![]()

Hi, Lvnlife!
![]() Methinks your best bet is to speak directly with your doc & surgeon, no one knows your case better than them. Do follow the link provided by Koala, and we'll see you out there. ![]()

Hello lvnlife and Welcome to NeuroTalk. I have to agree w/Cindy. You are going in for surgery and your Dr needs to take the time to explain "everything" to you in terms you can understand. The Dr's are "working " for you.
I make sure I have a list of questions when I have an appt and I don't let them out of the office until I'm satisfied I know what they said and meant.. Hope you can get some answers and look forward to hearing more from you. ![]() Good luck on your surgery and please let us know how things are going.
