I'm 57 yrs old & have been diag w/Fibro since 2003: 2004 fell at work injurying neck & back, now have chronic pain from that along w/fibro.
I've done everything from injections, PT, pain clinics, chiro, massage, acupuncture, of course multitude of med's. Nothing really helps & I've reached the point that I cannot continue to work a job that I really like. Have had my car repossessed, reduced to living in 1 bdrm apt from house, no longer can do all the sports/outdoor things w/grandkids. (Can I have some wine & cheese, please) I'm trying to get short term disability as the suggestion of my employer through work, but the way my dr's are I'll probably get denied. Then it'll be the welfare line if I have to. I'm at my wits end, having to take Oxy daily just to function as a partial person. Any suggestions or if you know of a dr in Spokane WA that works with my symptoms, please let me know. I've always enjoyed life but fibro has a way of stealing life away from us. I'm looking for a dr that will fight with me, my recent one informed me she isn't comfortable dealing w/any type of disability claims, not part of her forte as a family doctor. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hi, Judy!
![]() Have you seen a neurologist about this FN? It may take a physician with a bit more experience with it to get you the necessary documentation. Please visit the FN forum at the link our Tamiloo provided, there are several there who may have some tips for you. ![]()

Hi Judy and welcome to NeuroTalk! I'm so sorry for all that you've gone through and continue to endure. Pain is such a disabling condition...physically and mentally. It's exhausting.
I do hope you'll visit the forums suggested. Feel free to join in anywhere, though, as everyone here is very friendly and helpful. ![]()

Hello Judy and Welcome to NeuroTalk. Well, I DO understand your pain and frustration. I suffer from FM along w/a few other fun auto immunes, and I can relate to what you are saying.
FM lets you know of it's presence every day. The barometric changes just send me into flare after flare. I see a Rheumy for mine and he is compassionate and trying really hard to help me manage my sx's. I'm still a work in progress, I guess. I have Darvocet for the pain, but do not like the side effects, so tend to take a Tramadol and hope that it takes the edge off. Some days, it's just a curl up on the sofa and wait it out. I hope you have seen our forum for FM and can gather some info, advice and comfort. NT is an amazing place and I'm glad you found us. ![]()

[F]Hi, I'm new to the site, but not to FM. If you are unable to work your dr is obligated to sign you up for disability. You might want to get a consultation with a rheumatologist, if your dr isn't one, if you dr is then get a second opinion. I have to go now, as I have an appointment, but will come back to the site in a couple of hours to continue with this message.

[F][/FONT]If your doctor isn't comfortable with doing her job, you need another doctor. Get a hard copy of your medical records in your hand (this shouldn't cost more than a few pennies a page), and contact a Rheumatologist. You may be able to get you own doctor to do their job by letting them know that the AMA frowns on doctors who deliberately do the kind of disservice to their patients that yours is doing. Their refusal to complete your disability paperwork is detrimental to your health! Besides that you get the form fill in the initial information and they just sign it and mail it in. Any further work on their part will be simply answering correspondence, which they should review with you prior to replying.
Once I get the hang of being on a website, I'll contact you directly. Good Luck!!!! Lizz |
