Default Anything on IBS?

I know this is a bit personal to many people but I need help on how I can gain control on this matter because everytime I take the bentyl I get so tired. I have to work for a living and I can not just have my tummy spasm like this!

Hi there.

My brother in law has IBS and has taken Bentyl for years. He eats a completely white diet. I don't understand this, but it works for him. He takes 4 gaviscon with each meal. He doesn't eat any fat, he just eats carbs. He says EVERYTHING MAKES HIM GO TO THE BATHROOM.

He's thin as a rail. He's about 5 foot 10 1/2 and god bless him, he looks fine. Thin, but fine. I couldn't exist on the food that he eats but he seems to make it work.

Anyway, what does your doctor say?

I just wanted to stop by and be the first one to say Hi, and welcome to Neurotalks. Others will come and reply to your post, don't worry.

Take care,

Melody

They thought I had Crohn's disease at first and I took meds for crohnes. But After they investigate with the Colonoscopy they told me that I was fine and had no diseases. They also said I only have IBS.
So yeah that is all they told me. I was so suppose to follow up with an appointment. But I am too poor to afford the appointment. I have to wait until I have money.

Sharla:

The internet is a marvelous place to get information. I don't know if you've been searching for info on IBS or not.

But if you haven't, I just found this great place for you. Go there, register (if need be), and just read the posts. You might just find some helpful hints (until you can see a doctor).
Hope this helps.

Sharla

also its possible to do a lot of the same things that some of us do that
have been at some time diagnosed with things like ulceratis colitis.
Which is a relative of crohns. I have been told to take miralax for
constipation because its felt that causes part of my pain.

But I take nexium which is prescribed. But I used to take one of the
two drugs that is over the counter for heartburn. And it has helped
lots too.

Melody thanks for that site, I'm always looking for others with these
kind of problems.

Glad to be of help.

Oh, here's an interesting food that is easy to digest, (I'm loving it by the way). SPROUTS.

I've just discovered some interesting facts about sprouts. One of the facts is that they are EASY ON THE TUMMY. This morning I watched one of the youtube videos on home sprouting, and the girl said: "and one of the best reasons to eat sprouts is that it aids in digestion, prevents constipation, it's a good source of fiber, it has protein, all vitamins and minerals, etc.etc..

It's a super food.

Now I don't know if you guys and gals like to add stuff to salads or sandwiches. I don't eat sandwiches myself, but I do eat my sprouts every single day.

Broccoli sprouts have 50% more anti-oxidans than regular broccoli. Isn't that something?

I am also now growing my own sprouts in a jar in my kitchen. I tried to do quinoa grains but that didn't come out so well. So I watched the youtube videos, went to my organic health food store, bought some brocolli sprouts and other sprouts, and I also bought a bag of organic green lentils.

I am now soaking them.

See, I happen to be a health nut. Anything that is good for my body, GOES INTO MY BODY.

So we shall see if I become a sprout, sooner or later.

lol

Take care

Melody
