Hello all:
New here, saying hello. When I was a kid I had a grand mal seizure. I was put on some really nasty tasting medicine. Doctor said I grew out of it. In 1993, I experienced severe disorientation, dizzyness, and the calculus 1 class that I was taking suddenly got even more confusing than it had been. I started getting F's in pretty much everything(down from A's and B's) and ended up dropping out of college. I eventually went to a community college and pull an associates degree in general occupational technology. I worked for a number of years and all seemed to be pretty much okay. I thought I had just had some kind of nervous breakdown back at the college. Then about 4 or 5 years ago after a very stressful week at work, and an extremely stressful day, I was sitting at the computer terminal entering my work information for the day into the company's software. My vision blurred, the right side of my face felt weak and wierdly numb. My right arm would not behave as I wanted it to. Then my right arm and right side of my face drew up. My neck had been hurting and I thought that maybe it was a pinched nerve. I had an appointment to go to the doctor the following monday for something else, so I didn't bother with calling to try to get in sooner. By sunday of that weekend, I had 4 more of these episodes and couldn't pick up a full two liter drink bottle with my right hand. I was also having trouble finding words. My primary physisian thought that I had had a stroke and put me on plavix. The Neurologist checked for what all I don't know. Anyway, I now have trouble with short term memory, orginazational skills, spelling(made it to state finals in spelling so that is unusual) I forgot whole entire classes I took in college. I lost a good portion of my spacial reasoning ability. I have gone back to college to try to find a career I can still do. When I took the entrance exam, even though I had gone all the way through Calculus 1 in college, I tested so low they put me back in math 070 and the class has not been easy even though my professor is great. I am on Topamax for the migraines I get and the "episodes". they had me on 4 of the things a day. I am currently taking only one of them as my insurance is a bit sketchy. Also the side effects of the topamax worries me. I have high blood pressure, treated with prinivil, I suffer from chronic depression, treated with something that starts with an L, I try to stay positive, and I keep trying. That is pretty much where I am. Hello everyone. Fuzzy |
