I have had constant upper abdominal spasm for the last 30 years-with no help in diagnosis-sometimes i get other symptoms such as lethargy-spaciness, but it is this one symptom that never leaves me-it can go from very severe to less severe-impacted by exercise-environmental irritants-new meds-etc-it is just so weird -I have rather gotten used to the fact that these symptoms will be with me for the rest of my life but at times I get sick and tired of having them!Had all kind of tests , probes etc etc-nothing relieves it-I am on meds for anxiety and this helps a bit but does not eliminate them.HELP

Hi Tyronnie, I too have suffered from abdominal issues since birth. In my case most likely the affect from an incomplete structure of my stomach at birth, due to hypothyrioidism. As the years have progressed I have been tortured by surgeons (poking, prodding, exploratories etc.) My childhood medical torture has scared me for life. Reglan has helped a lot, in addition to other stomach remedies if I use them in conjunction with one another. I suffer from stomach pain after I eat/drink anything no matter how small it may be. Acid reflex may be your culprit. I believe in this case that don't produce enough digestive enzymes (thus the pain associated with eating). I've also survived pancreatitis, due to a blocked bile stone and consequently had my gallbladder out after life saving measures in the hospital for 8 days and hepatitis from the aforementioned in addition. Check your gallbladder out also. My child also has stomach issues which we just checked out last week and it is most likely acid reflex the pediatrician notated. Best wishes to you in finding an answer to your painful situation and to finding effective relief very soon.

Welcome to NeuroTalk! I'm very glad you dropped by. Wow! Thirty years is an awful long time to have the same condition. I've had mine for seven now, and I thought that was a lot! My illness began with abdominal spasms, but as it progressed, the spasms went away. It's been replaced with quite of few other things.
I don't even know where to begin in offering you advice about your illness, but I do know that there comes a point when accepting your illness as just another part of your life can bring you tremendous release of emotional pressure. You don't forget about it, or stop looking for a cure. You simply accept that it's time to start working around it for now, until it goes away. I've hardly ever met a person who doesn't like to discuss their illness to some degree with other people, and there are a lot of us here who don't mind listening. But right now I am going to wish you all the luck I have in finding out what is causing your aggravating condition. All the best, Tyronie53! ![]() |
