Hi to all,

I experienced a ruptured right internal carotid artery on August 7, 2008. Since I had not had migraines since my early 20's, I thought they had come back with a vengence and did not seek medical help until the 9th. The neurosurgeon told my family i should be dead. But guess what, I'm not. After 2 weeks in Neuro/Trauma ICU and another 2 weeks on the Neuro unit, I walked out (with a walker and support from fiance) and got married a week later as planned. I must admit I do not remember much about my wedding, which is sad, but I do have what I call "movie previews" that come to me every now and then. I continue to experience daily neuropathic headaches that range from "nagging" to full blown severe migraines with neuropathy. I also continue to experience short term memory loss, cognitive problems, now mild expressive aphasia and vision problems that are still uncorrective due to vision flucuations.

In Sept of 2007 my then 35 yo nephew also experienced a ruptured aneurism....I also have an aunt that died with a "mother-daughter" aneurism in 2000. Makes heridity seem realistic.

God bless you! It is incredible that you had rupture (?) of an artery and only days later went to the ICU. It is great that you walked out 'on your own' with the help of your fiance. Belated good wishes on your wedding, even if it is all kind of enveloped in a 'fog'. Well, I did not have that problem and yet mine too was kind of enveloped in a 'fog'... It just seemed to me that there was something 'surreal' about the whole ceremony, as if there were 2 of me! ...

All levity aside, I am very sorry that you had that scary incident in your life. I am no authority on headaches but severe headaches are a hardship. I hope you find help in these many pages.
