Default Hi i'm new i have RSD please come and chat to me

Hi, i have never posted on a forum before, so this is all new to me i was hoping others with same condition might be able to help me, i was very recently told i have RSD in my left hand,

i was given Gabapentin to treat the pain and condition, i was started on 300mg for the first 2 days, this was then put it up to 600mg for 5 days, i was then told that i should start my next load bringing me up to 900mg, and then after 3 days i should jump to 1800mg.

the consultant i saw said he wanted to get the gabapetin in my system ASAP, he said that RSD could be difficult to treat. i've had server side affects form the gabapentin, my GP has advised me to slow the dose as it was all a bit quick for my system, unfortunatly due to other issues with my wrists i am worried that this drug won't help me and i am really frightened that this will affect me for the rest of my life i have been given no time scales and i know very little of RSD.

i have been told that both wrists have tenosynovitis and Tendonitis, although only my left has RDS - i am a very confused person at the moment i would be greatful for any help/advice
Tannie ps sorry for the long message!

Hello,
I'd like to suggest you read on both our RSD forum -
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum21.html

and our Thoracic Outlet Syndrome {TOS} we also have a RSI sub forum on the TOS section.
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum24.html

( both wrists have tenosynovitis and Tendonitis )- might be due to RSI or even TOS.
Be sure to check the sticky threads on both forums too. They are up at the top section of the thread list.

Hello---I have RSD in my right hand. I got it right after I had hand surgery in 2007. I know how painful this is. I went for Nerve blocks for some time, but the thing that seemed to really help was hand therapy. Its important to keep the affected area moving, even though it hurts. I hope you are seeing a doctor that specializes in this condition?? I wish you the very best, and try to be patient---stress does not help this condition.. hutch
