I was diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy in June 2009. I have burning tongue syndrome and, more recently, my eyes have begun to sting and burn. I don't know whether this is due to aging and the associated dryness, damage to the trigeminal nerve, which carries pain sensation from the eye to the brain, or perhaps even a damaged facial nerve, which controls the lacrymal gland.
Does anyone have experience or knowledge about this? What have you done about your eye pain that works? My eye doctor plugged the tear ducts in both eyes to retain the moisture longer and that seemed to work OK for a while, but lately the pain has worsened. My eyes are very red, too. Dbrow |
