Default Occipital Neuralgia affecting nose too?

Hello there,

I'm 23 years old and for about 1 year im suffering from what I think is an occipital neuralgia. I have constant pain in the back of my head in the occipital region and the pain radiates to my scalp, forehead, tample and nose and sometimes it is affecting my throat near the lymph nodes/larynx.

The pain is always present and now it's worse when I wake up. The only time I don't feel the pain is when I'm drinking and partying with friends.

Can occipital neuralgia affect the nose too because I don't see people having the same symptoms as I have and I can't say my occipital neuralgia represents the regular ON because of the pressure pain on my nose.

Anyone else having ON affecting the nose too? What can it be? Atypical TN?

Please

I do not have ON ...I have a form of T.N. perhaps you have T.N. Others with T.N. have presented with pain and burning in the areas you mention. You did not mention eye pain or eye issues ??
I can give you info about T.N. or maybe you would like to visit our T.N. forum here and post this question or read some of the posts there..maybe it will help.
here is the link.

Let me know if I can be of help to you.

Default Relief from my ON

I am new here, suffering for about 5 years now. I actually wanted to kill myself at one point the pain was relentless 24/7. Had all the nerve block stuff done, no real improvement. BOTOX helped me. It took about a month, but one day I woke up and my headache was down to like a 3 for most people. It doesn't last, but you may want to ask about it.

Frown Drinking

It also helps if I drink, not sure why my Dr. asked me that too but never gave an explanation. Im going to become an alcoholic pretty soon I think.

oh my goodness. I have ON and I keep saying to everyone, the only time I don't feel my pain is when I am drunk. I don't like alcohol but it makes you wanna become an alcoholic when that is the only relief you get!!! Anything else you all have tried that has helped? What is your update as I just found this site.

There is a lot of information here about what folks have tried and what has worked. Browse through the threads or search them for specific info. I don't believe I've read of anyone finding relief from alcohol though, but theres always a first. If you haven't already consulted a neuro, you might want to do so. Good luck

I'm having similar symptoms with my ON. Originally, it just involved the back of my head. Now it's spread down my forehead, along the side of my nose and wraps under my eye. I also have pain over the top of my ear. My neurologist told me that these are not the same nerves as the ON; however, there is so much inflammation along the ON that it is affecting other nerves around it. I hope this helps.

I'm wondering what all types of treatments you've undergone for your ON? I've tried several things over the last 3 1/2 years with very little relief. Due to medication I take for seizures, I'm not allowed to drink so that's not an option for me. I'm glad you're able to get some relief that way.
