Default Feeling grumpy

Tomorrow morning I am off to see my pain specialist bright and early. (8:15 a.m.) It will be the follow up the the rhizotomy I had 2 weeks ago, which in my opinion was a disaster. It did nothing, save for making things worse and then I couldn't get in to see the pain specialist because the schedule was overbooked.

I went to see my gp out of desperation and her best idea of how to help (bless her soul) was to put me on a big dose pulse of oral prednisone for 5 days to see if that would help. It did a little, but I still have the headache.

I am sure tomorrow I will get another shot of freezing in my head. Right now the idea of having yet another needle driven into my skull makes my stomach churn. I've been doing this since August. I've about lost track of how many I've had.

It's all feeling so damn hopeless. I am scheduled for a trial of Lidocaine in mid-January so I imagine I will have to do the freezing shots weekly till then. Right back where I started. And who knows if I will be able to get in over the holidays-it's unlikely my pain specialist will be available.

In the meantime, she mentioned trying to get a trial lead for the ONS at my expense but who knows when that will be. Everything seems to move so slowly and when I am in pain, I am not the most patient person.

Anyway, I am heading to bed before I make myself sick.

First, I would like to say thanks for showing me this board. What a blessing.
Secondly, the prednisone helped me alot but it was temporary as well. I got put on 60 mgs for 5 days and then a week later, for 7 days. The 7 day dose helped for about a week longer and I thought, wow, I'm finished with the headaches!
I really hope that today goes well and you get some kind of help. Gosh, have you thought of taking the meds I do? It might help. The professor here was really happy my GP doctor put me on Baclofen because its not addictive at all and then the GP was very happy that the professor put me on the Neurotin. I am wondering if those would help at all? It would be worth mentioning to your doctor. I can tell you they have given me enough relief that I can function much better through the pain.

PG, I hope she has more to offer you and that your visit today is productive. My ON is just about as bad as it was when I started my blocks, so I guess the steroids have worn off.

I'm sending you low pain wishes!

Back from the pain specialist. She's given me another freezing shot. In addition to that, she gave me a script for fuernol patches, but while I filled it, I haven't put one on yet. I am waiting till someone comes home just in case it affects me in some weird way.

I am still waiting on the lido for January and she's going to keep working on the stim trial.

I am just grumpy and sad. My inlaws sent me some Xmas money and I ended up spending in on a tens machine which she wanted me to try. Merry xmas to me. (not.)

Anyway, just ignore me grumbling. I'm just having one of those days.
