Default I have never laughed so hard in my life

I just made a Bitter Melon dish (see the diabetes forum, I made a whole post on this and how it's good for diabetes).

Well, I went on the internet again to see what else it's good for and it's supposed to be good for psoriasis.

Well!!! Alan has psoriasis and nothing works.

So today (before we went out for Japanese), I took one bitter melon thing (looks like a big cucumber or squash with all ridges on it).

I took out the seeds, I soaked it in salt water, I squeezed out the juice, I sauteed onions and garlic and I sliced it into rings and cooked it. When I tasted it (Oh, I also added turmeric). Well! BITTER, doesn't begin to describe it. There are ALL kinds of recipes online and this veggie is BIG in Indian cooking. I mean BIG!!!

So now it's 6:30 tonight and we're hungry and I make Alan his dinner and I say "you know, it says that bitter melon is good for psoriasis, can you try a bit, I'll put some tomato sauce on it for you."

And he says "okay, I'll give it a whirl".

Well, I wish I had his reaction on camera.

He tasted it, handed it back to me and said "I don't care if it clears up my whole body, I'm not eating any more".

The look on his face as he tasted it was absolutely priceless.

THE THING IS BITTER no matter WHAT you put on it.

But he relented and finished it.

Then he looked at me and said

"This had better work on my psoriasis"

lol

I bet you wished you had a camera ready to take a picture of the look on his face. Thanks for sharing.

yeah, I usually can catch him on video. Like when he ate my sugar free apple pie for the first time. HE LIKED IT. I just took a sugar free blueberry (with a few apples thrown in for luck), out of the oven. Oh my god, it smells heavenly.
And my friend told me "next time, cut up some other fruit and some lemon zest".

Just think. 62 years old and I'm just learning how to bake.

lol

And I eat this bitter melon stuff every day. I take out the seeds, cut it up, boil it for 20 minutes. TASTES HORRIBLE.

But I do it.

You know, I have a question about this particular fruit. Why on earth was this created? IT HAS THE WORST TASTE I HAVE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE TO PUT IN MY MOUTH.

Good Lord.

No matter how you make this, You can boil it, stir fry it, (some guy fried it on youtube), but no matter HOW you make this , IT'S DISGUSTING.

And on the internet it says that THIS DISH IS VERY POPULAR IN INDIA, and many people have it for breakfast....etc.

What I want to know is......

WHY?????????????????????

It's the worst thing I have ever tasted.

P.S. UPDATE, UPDATE.

I just found this on the internet. There is actually a BITTER MELON COUNCIL. I joined the website. I'm hysterical.

Check this out.
