to digress a little -

for those with PN who have the sensation of insects crawling over their skin - one of the medical terms for this is Formication (that's with an 'm') - the word comes from Latin for ants: formicae

continuing to digress...

That's interesting. First thing I thought of was Formica as in the laminate.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formica_%28plastic%29
Quote:
Etymology of the name

The mineral mica was commonly used at that time for electrical insulation. Because the new product acted as a substitute “for mica”, Faber used the name “Formica”[1] as a trademark. (The word already existed, the Latin name for wood ants, from which formic acid and the derivative formaldehyde compound used in the resin were first isolated.)

I had my first ant of the Summer make it's way through my window this morning The nest under the sill must have re-established.

Dave
No doubt he/she will soon be joined by mates - keep your baklava in an ant-proof container or they'll really be dancing for joy.

Hi bluesfan,

Yes, it is well sealed up, as is all my food. I am meticulous about that. Luckily, the ants have always been at the front of the house, the kitchen is at the back. Flies get everywhere, though, that is why everything is kept sealed.

Dave.
