Default Who would sign up for this?

A hospital in India is claiming to be the first ever to try to "cure" PD using autologous stem cells..(I guess they are forgetting about Andrew Kissana who was treated a year or so ago also in India (and who I can find NOTHING about how he is doing, BTW, which makes one wonder...) but here's the link:

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/n...ow/4916800.cms

If this were available here in the US, would anyone do this?

Interesting news item. My take on this is; its true, stem cell transplants are being tested for various disorders in India. The hospital, doctor exist and probably the patient too. However, Bone marrow stem cells are not known for their ability to differentiate into neurons, so chances of success are slim. Oh; on the other hand mesenchymal cells do differentiate and are in the bone marrow prep . so these guys may have a success story!
anyway, this is nt much different than what is being done in Germany (Xcell center??) same story, most likely a transient benefit but I bet a lot cheaper than in Germany!!
If I beleived in the science behind these experimental therapies I would sign up for it!

Smile UCLA has stem cell therapy waiting for Phase II to begin

There is this company allifilated with Neurogeneration** Go to it. This company has a phase II trial on hold. I think they are trying to raise money to continue. They have been tracking a man who had stem cell therapy for 5 years. The man testified before congress. I can't remember how to spell the dr."s last name. It is on the website.
