I've been reviewing some posts on mucuna and hit the thread about snorting dopamine that Ron originated some time ago. What ever happened to that idea? And did anyone learn where we can get pure dopamine to try this for ourselves?
Today would be one of those days where we feel so crappy we're actually toying with the idea of crushing up a sinemet and snorting that...but can't do it because, as one post noted, you'd be snorting the carbidopa as well...bad idea. Has anyone tried snorting mucuna or zandopa? Does anyone have any thoughts about that? I'm leaning more towards trying to snort mucuna as opposed to the Zandopa since Zan has other stuff in it. Is this going too far out on the white rat limb? |

I gasped when I read this post. Snorting? How do you know it would be safe? I found this tasty tidbit to scare you straight:
"Well, if you're crushing pills and snorting them, you might also be introducing foreign, nonabsorbable substances to the nasal passages. Dr.J once treated a woman for horrible sinus problems that turned out to be apergillus growing in her sinuses. She'd been snorting Lortab, and the pills had been contaminated with spores. She snorted the spores with the drug, and they lodged in her sinuses, sprouted, and grew quite nicely....Apparently, growing fungus in your sinuses turns your snot nearly black. I heartily DON'T reccommend it." Call me cautious, Rose |

A few may recall juanhch of Chile. Quiet and early onset, juan didn't say much. Seemed rather conservative.
Then one evening, in the biggest font he could find, he announced that he had just snorted a sinemet tablet. Juan was wired. Then, for the next four or five hours he reported a very detailed description of his experience. I think that that was in tne Brain Talk days so you might find it in the archive. As I remember, he was over-medicated and on a roller coaster at first, but otherwise none-the-worse for the wear. Has anyone ever used MSM? A lot of arthritis folks rub it into their joints. It isa super penetrant and can be used as a solvent to transport drugs through the skin.

Hi Lurking,
I agree with Rose that we must be cautious. However, a lot of drugs are already administered via the nasal route, although many are sprays. Do a search and you will find a lot of information on how it can be done safely, eg. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12618035 Abstract This paper discusses the problems associated with nasal drug delivery and how it is possible, sometimes by means of quite simple concepts, to improve transport across the nasal membrane. In this way it is feasible to deliver efficiently challenging drugs such as small polar molecules, peptides and proteins and even the large proteins and polysaccharides used in vaccines or DNA plasmids exploited for DNA vaccines. The transport of drugs from the nasal cavity directly to the brain is also described and examples of studies in man, where this has been shown to be feasible, are discussed. Recent results from Phase I/II studies in man with a novel nasal chitosan vaccine delivery system are also described. Finally, the author's thoughts about the future for nasal drug delivery are also depicted. Ron

I don't know about snorting fava or putting a tincture patch on. It is so very easy just to put the tincture in your mouth! I just hold it there and swish it around for probably a minute before swallowing....it seems to act like a sublingual alittle because some is absorbed into mouth tissues. I always tell my friend to breath deeply thru her nose at the same time. When I do this...it really does feel like some of it is being delivered to my brain before swallowing. I only use about 6 drops as a dose..so a patient person could hold it in their mouth til most of it is absorbed that way. I am not fond of the brandy taste and try to mix alot of saliva with it before swallowing. My friend enjoys the brandy. If I get enough tincture put aside for the year with the fall crop, I hope to make a small batch with vinegar (to try for me) instead of the brandy. (Even soda pop burns my throat and I never did drink it))

Please forgive me if I am asking something that may have already been discussed. I am fairly new here.
First of all, I want to thank you for introducing me to fava beans. They are not only delicious but, have given me a few good days that I have not experienced in months. I found a source for fresh beans and also have the juice from International Gourmet. I am concerned about the season coming to an end. I just received an email from International Gourmet telling me that October is the last of the juice and that I need to order a supply to get thru the out of season months. They say the juice has no preservatives but if I freeze it for several months, is it still good? I hate to order several bottles at $50 each only to have it go bad or lose it's dopamine. Also, I was wondering if I threw a bunch of fresh pods in my Vitamix, froze the results, would that act as a good supply? (cheaper than the $50 a bottle) I am so confused by the many things I have read about what part has the most dopamine, cooking and cooling destroying the dopamine, and so on. I am interested in your tincture and how you make it. Perhaps that is the answer when fresh beans aren't available? I really am finding that favas are helping me and I want to know more, more, more. Thanks!!! |

From working with mucuna (not fava) I can tell you that the Ldopa in it is very stable. At least enough to stand a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes.
