Soccertese said: ….”but again, if this is just a social board, then i apologize.”
Evidence shows that this is not just a social board. ….” so if you make a statement that i think is factually incorrect i should ignore it because the "big picture" is more important? that's asking a lot…. Evidence shows that posters here are not being obliged to ignore that which they consider to be factually incorrect. The insistence on facts and proof and science is healthy and essential, especially in any place that would accept me as a member. I tend to follow translations of the ancient wisdom of the Oracles of Delphi, and a host of similar advisors, some ancient; some alive today; including several much-respected shamans. I know that more rational heads will prevail when it comes to shipping the cure around the world. I also know that there are visions that get revealed, and some contain answers that we have to find the questions for. I don’t know what Fiona deleted, but crabby or not, I wish she had not deleted it. Dreamers and fact-checkers, scientists and dancers; we get to see PD through many different eyes. We would rather not; none of us really want to join the Parkinson’s Club; it would be so much better if some scientist comes running down the street yelling “Eureka” and the disease is cured and this place will get closed down in a second and we all go back to life as it should be. Somehow we don’t have that choice. We need the scientists and we need the wild imaginations, because this disease is being stubborn and the mainstream medical system has no time for us; as I was told early on by an M.D.; I’m lucky it’s not something fatal or painful. I sent him a Christmas card, saying: I dreamed I saw St. Augustine, alive with fiery breath And I dreamed that I was amongst the ones Who put him out to death I awoke in anger So alone and terrified…. |

but I don't feel bad vibes from anyone. We know why we are here, and diversity is our legacy. But each is strong and it's good to get it from every angle. Sometimes we don't understand it.
Soccertese has been here for some time. And he's still here. That means something that we all need is being met here. How boring and learning deprived would we be if we actually were all the same. it's like Gilligan's Island...lol I wanna be mary ann. ok her great aunt. rejoice in the exchange; it means we're alive. I had no idea gregd was using hypnotism and to what extent. that we are all different makes it more interesting. And Fiona you have your work cut out for you; maybe wecan help, altho i'm laughing now because i just got this picture in my head of family who meddle and make you exasperated trying to "help." Fiona is recovering from deep personal loss, as she wrote, and coincidentally so is soccertese - who has lost his brother to cancer and has said his judgement or thinking was clouded by it right now. Individualism is what we were all about as babyboomers - all about the American dream. Our children are quite different in thinking ....they aren't as free. This is not to be interpreted as any analysis, just expressing thoughts after reading.

The whole human busload of you remind me of the much mocked two-way definition that I believe in and look for every day:
truth is beauty, and beauty is truth, and that is all ye know, and all ye need to know. |

Soccertese - I'm sorry for your loss. Thank you for trying to create clarity and for all the energy you bring to the forum. Steve - you know I'm with you trying to figure it out... Bob and dear Paula - you guys are swell. No worries. Greg - I think the hypnotism thing deserves its own thread - very interesting and amazing what you've done. Good night all. Fiona, 3,000 years ago, would have been one of the Oracles.
With this thread, she has caused many people to sit bolt-upright in surprise. We keep hearing stories that science ignores… stories of PWP dancing, hypnosis, diet change, exercise… if it helps for a minute can we make it help for an hour? If it helps for an hour can we make it help for a year? Fiona signals that she dares to believe more. One of my shamans e-mailed me about this thread today (yes, today’s shamans are on the net) and the comment was, “It is not in hearing of a thing one time that you will understand it. You must hear of it many times.” So, to listen again: FIONA SAID; Hi People - SO.... I'm not quite ready to talk fully about what I'm doing yet. I want to be a little further along before giving full details. But I wanted to give you the sense of possibility coming. There is a new medical age in the process of dawning and it's going to change a lot of things. This is rad stuff. It involves understanding how stress, intergenerational trauma, systems of belief, placebo response, the meaning of each person's disease to themselves, questioning many of the base medical assumptions that we've been operating under (hello?? Lou Gehrig?), challenging pharmaceutical - well, slavery.. FIONA SAID;.. I am not ready to totally spill the beans for a while yet. But I care so much about all my dear friends here, and I just wanted to say hang on, hold on, keep the faith. Don't give up now because there are better days coming. FIONA SAID; And everybody's different, and I don't want to disrespect anyone else's challenges nor the solutions that seem most right for them...we all know that about each other. The issues I raise here are enormously complex and emotional, I know. FIONA SAID; But I wanted to give a shout out, and say that I really think much more is possible than we have grown accustomed to believe. And I really do think there is a whole new kind of medicine about to be birthed in which the mind-body connection - and all its applications to our existing treatments - will be investigated and validated like never before, and it will be like the discovery of germs or modern surgical technique -at least - in its scope and significance. A lot of the reading I have been doing about the plasticity of the brain, PTSD, and other related brain issues have been seminal in preparing me to accept this approach. These authors have included Norman Doidge, Peter Levine, Lewis Mehl-Madrona, and others. FIONA SAID; I will let you know more later, but as I said, I wanted to acknowledge what I think is on the cutting edge of a huge step in dealing with the body, the psyche, and the meanings of our lives, the construction of a truly humane medicine. THANK YOU FIONA. And first of all, take care of yourself. You don’t have to answer our questions. Do not let us distract or confuse you. You are on a spirit quest that is of lifetime importance to us and to millions. Go for it; follow that star. And then, now and / or later, often or just at times; entirely when it comes to you to do so, tell us more, and tell us again, because it is not in hearing of a thing one time that we will understand. You are carrying our flag into new territory. Take care of yourself now, first and foremost, follow your bliss; and tell us around the campfire when you choose. Godspeed, fair mariner; olive leaves in your hair, sailing to new lands; the ocean calm and clear as glass, the sun shining on the pure white sails, and all around, dolphins leaping joyously… |

Paula, there were worries like that in my household and we fixed the entire world's problems by not listening to the news any more. Everything is going to be alright. The best is yet to come.
And there are fewer wars than usual and the internet is melting all the old structures, and nobody in the Middle East is going to nuke anybody. The leaders, mullahs included, have great cash flow going and won't want to lose it. Miracles are happening by the truck load. Parkinson's. cancer. alzheimers. all will be cured too late for us probably boomers will be last generation for many diseases, future generations will laugh at us but that's only fair after all the fun we have had Be of good cheer |

Paula, you ask "who do you trust in this quest to get better? who are you relying on?" Makes me think....
It's not research scientists - they seem to focus on the big deals like stem cells that make great headlines but will never do most of us any good; even if they come up with a great discovery, it will likely involve surgery and how many of the hundreds of thousands of us will get that in time? It's not drug companies, they have to make money and coming up with a new drug costs mega-bucks, they prefer diseases that affect a large percentage of the population like heart disease It's not my neurologist, he usually doesn't have the answers to my complaints, other than to take more drugs. I think the reason I always read this forum and a couple of others is because I think it will be someone who is intensely interested ie. has PD and has the time and ability to follow research, to think outside the box, put two and two and probably three and three and a lot more together and try things out. In other words, I'm not exactly relying on people like everyone here, but I'm more hopeful that something useful will turn up here than most other places. |

you have summed it up accurately! Main thing is to keep a constant flow of science information , which is including mind/body as accepted and we should read what they are writing as we live it and talk about it the sham surgery videos are really good - you can getfamiliar with who is running the pd show
