...The fields of immunology, microbiology, nutrition and metabolism are rapidly converging. Here we expand on a diet-microbiota model as the basis for the greater incidence of asthma and autoimmunity in developed countries. ...

Lightbulb iron through gut cavity

Hi all, Just found you and my first post. DX PD 2 yrs.
Bastyr Univ in Seattle did a complete historical and blood make-up of me because of PD and my chronic IRON DEFICIENCY. They are seeking funding for a study to (maybe) find a correlation.

As you said,,,it's not all about dopamine. I think it's about what we put into the gut and what gets absorbed. Hope to find out more!
thanks for the insight Don

Default antibiotic

I find that antibiotics cause meds to NOT work. Just had a tooth pulled recently and it was confirmed once again.

Lightbulb Gut vs Iron transfer

Hi Ron and All. I just found this site, so first post. DX PD 2 yrs ago

I had a complete blood make-up and historical questionnaire at Bastyr University, Seattle, WA because they are gathering data for a study of possible correlation between IRON DEFICIENCY VS PD.

I have chronic anemia, hence the interest. They are exploring the relationship between PD and the minerals that transfer across the gut.(or not).

I find it interesting, Ron, that your idea is along the same line.

To support, this after DX I went to a macrobiotic camp and ate whole foods for 10 days. Detoxified. What a difference! Less tremor, voice stronger. 'Been eating better ever since but still anemic.

Thanks for being here & looking forward to learning more Don

Default Antibiotics and such

paula/girija-/others - antibiotics DO mess up the efficacy of my meds while I am taking them, but after my dosing is completed, I feel great! That could be due to a number of variables: one is that PD is due to inflammation and the antibiotics controls that, or another - antibiotics give me diarrhea so my colon gets "cleansed." (take your pick! lol)

Welcome, Don! you said ; I think it's about what we put into the gut and what gets absorbed. Hope to find out more!

I agree with you and what I think keeps us symptomatic is the toxicicty left in our gut when we take a cocktail of medications.

Colon "cleansing" is not a good idea. In fact the cleansing for colonoscopies can increase the risk of cancer if not followed by probiotics. We are supposed to have a healthy balance of fauna and flora in our gut.

Problems arise from inflammation, antibiotics use, too much sugar and refined foods, and foods we become sensitized to (gluten and dairy is common).

Constipation is not good, but neither is "cleansing".
