Default Development Of The Pharmaceutical Industry: How, Why, and When Corruption Came In

Development Of The Pharmaceutical Industry:

How, Why, and When Corruption Came In

Graham Dukes MD LLM

In order to counter corruption in any field, one needs to understand why it came about in the first place. In pharmaceuticals, the history is quite clear. Quite apart from the fact that this has long been a sector in which a great deal of money circulates and competition is fierce, there have been a chain of developments during the 20th century in the course of which, quite simply, money has become more dominant than science - and a great deal more influential than idealism...

Default also the germ vs. terrain theory

Thanks for this, maybe something might change....maybe maybe maybe.

I've always thought that the real corruption began when the germ theory gained favor over the terrain theory. The germ theory obviously being that a foreign body invades a person and this can be treated with a pill, tonic, elixir, whatever, something that can be sold.

The terrain theory is that if you maintain the body, the terrain, it will not be susceptible to a foreign body in the first place. Many years ago, this was how eastern medicine was praciticed: a doctor went around his village and kept people well...if someone got sick, he was fired!

This is very simplified and of course does not address a ton of things that are genetic but does cover a huge percentage of the conditions for which
"medicines" are hocked, er, prescribed.
