Hi all,
I know I posted a few weeks back asking if you knew of anything that helped with tremor. I saw my Dad after 8 months and am upset to see that his tremor has advanced. he was diagnosed two years ago and tremor is his main symptom. He has not been prescribed medication. He takes coq10, turmeric, reservatrol, alphalipoic acid. Is there anything that helps with tremor? It is hard to see him like this.. Shar |

Interestingly, after following Aunt Bean's posts on here, I have been growing Fava beans ( broad beans ). On Saturday I ate one raw ( about 4 inches long - both pod and beans ) 2 hours later I hardly had any tremor ( but I also had several drinks too ) If something would stop eating the plants, I could continue the experiment ...but you are supposed to check for favism before eating .......

Hi Shar
It is difficult to watch the disease advancing isn't it. Does you father plan to take medication? I suspect if/when he does you will see an improvement. Tremor is very difficult to treat. Have you done a search on this site? Best wishes |

Does he not want to take any meds for the tremor?
Does he want to have meds for it- but the Drs won't write any meds for him? Can he still do his daily activities even with the tremor? My dad had more tremor during resting time than when he was doing things, but later on his hand/wrist would not do what he wanted to do - so then he got the meds to help. He couldn't BBQ or flip the burgers LOL

Hi, is there a reason that he has not been prescribed meds?
It is when PD starts to really intrude on our lives that medication becomes useful. If the tremor is hindering life for him perhaps now might be a good time. On the other hand, it might be bothering you more than it does him..... You need to discuss with him how he wants to manage things, meds can be helpful with tremor, but it is a good time for both of you to get informed, and don't be afraid of asking the neuro all the questions you have, that it what they are there for |

Thanks for your responses. The doctor doesen't want to prescribe medication to him yet. The tremor bothers him more socially but doesen't affect function. I'm looking for ways to reduce the tremor. Is there anything that has helped?
