Default Coming off of Prolopa meds

Anyone out there been through this? My sister was diagnosed as having PD 5 years ago and we all thought then (as now) that it was a mis-diagnosis.

Now we find out she has been over-dosed with thyroid meds for 12 years that has interfered with her hormonal balance, effectively making her look like she has Parkinson's. She is now coming off of prolopa and is experiencing severe healing crisis.

Any support re: methodology on coming off of meds would be helpful - she has been slowly reducing her meds for several months now. Totally off the thyroid meds as well and now has reverted into what I call an adult baby - cannot walk, wash herself, wipe herself after being on the toilet - totally dependent on others now for everything, including eating and brushing her teeth.

She's been told to go back on the thyroid meds + has always looked to the natural health products realm as well - True Hope in Alberta, Canada is the latest alternative meds that she is also taking in tandem to all of this. So far this healing crisis is also affecting her brain - pressure on the brain (found out from her Bio-Feedback practitioner as of Friday afternoon).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Sisterhood,
Not sure if I can help you re thyroid meds but I'm assuming it was a neurologist and not a naturopath/ biofeedback practioner you consulted regarding her misdiagnosis of P.D.?
Was she previously on anti parkinson meds and has now stopped them?
I'm wondering if this is the case, she may have either been misdiagnosed with the latest diagnosis of misdiagnosis and needs her anti parkinson meds again or alternatively she now needs to start taking them due to her inability to do everyday tasks.
Sorry I can't be of more help. Anyone here now anymore on Parlopa?

Default Coming off of Proplopa meds naturally?!

Hi Made It Up,

We recently found out that our sister has been overdosed with thyroid meds taking them for 12 years, which in turn caused a neurologist to diagnose her as having PD 5 years ago. She has now come off both and is currently needing 24/7 care to feed, wash, toilet her by others (family members at the moment).

My sister, Tamra, has always researched the alternative medicine way and only took medical advice when it seemed necessary to do so. It was a medical Dr who put her on the thyroid pills 12 years ago.

We are just now realizing that her history of heavy metal toxicity in her body + the thyroid meds overdose + the Prolopa that she didn't need to be on in the first place has caused this huge toxic reaction in her body. From what I have recently learned, heavy metal toxins is what causes MS/Parkinson's etc because they settle in the brain and different parts of the brain, hence out-picturing different diseases due to where in the brain these toxins have settled. They also settle in the nerves and can stop digestion, affect heart rhythms etc - again making Drs think the patient is ill with one thing, when it all really leads back to heavy metal toxicity in the brain/body.

Now we are looking for alternative ways to allow all these toxins to come out, while also trying to find place to take her to deal with the 24/7 care she needs that none of the family is trained to do. The True Hope EmPower and amino acids regimen is helping to feed her brain while she is undergoing all of this, and unfortunately it will take TIME, and no one knows how long this will be.

I am awaiting a call back from a Master Kinesilogist in Calgary, Alberta Canada (where the family lives) to help us out to know what her body needs and what dosages to use to help compensate. We were told to use the tinctures of Slippery Elm (neutralizes the toxins) and Milk Thistle (helps the liver detox stuff faster) but at the same time may take out all the good stuff that is trying to help her.

It is quite a mess and people think Canada's medical system is great - it is as bad as the US if not worse in some cases. Silo thinking and not working as a team because everyone on both sides (medical vs alternative health) are polarized and not knowing the knowledge each side has - none of this is helping.

We are coming into a new era here where BOTH sides need to help one another, but we haven't got there yet - so I am still looking for people who may have already gone through all of this already.

Thank you,

Laurie
