Well, I was on the phone with an office in Massachusetts and my home began to shake. Now I have lived in two countries and experiened earthquake of all magnitudes...but Pennsylvania??? Now I know we have a fault line in the NE USA, but never expected an earthquake...5.9
But, we had one. Being unsure I Goggled Harrisburg news... East coast earthquake felt in midstate Updated: Aug 23, 2011 2:45 PM EDT "An earthquake centered in Virginia shook the East Coast Tuesday afternoon, and tremors from the 5.8-scale quake could be felt in the midstate.' This is my favorite sentence, "We've been in contact with officials at the Three Mile Island nuclear reactor." If you are old enough to remember the 1979 crisis at Three Mile Island. When you fly into Harrisburg you can see the island and the plant as you cross over the Susquehanna River. Last edited by CarolynS; 08-23-2011 at 03:00 PM. |

<and my home began to shake. >
This is the 3rd one I've felt in PA over 42 years. Actually didn't feel much different during the aftershocks, just more muscle vibration. Only knew something was wrong when I saw the cats slink down the stairs and saw the bed shake. Shetawk |
