Does levodopa accelerate the pathologic process in Parkinson disease brain
Neurology, 10/11/2011 Parkkinen L et al. – Chronic use of l–dopa in Parkinson disease(PD) does not enhance progression of PD pathology as far as can be determined by this observations with Substantia nigra(SN) neuronal counts and Lewy body densities. http://www.mdlinx.com/pharmacy/newsl...subspec_id=585

I tried to read and understand the results of this study.
The outcome seems to be mixed? No correlation between L-dopa and Lewy Bodies but I think it showed a lower concentration(density) of neurons, at least in the ventral tiers. Maybe someone with a better medical background can interpret this better, but at the risk of sounding paranoid, sometimes it just seems these studies are done to substantiate what someone wants to prove. ![]() Quote:
