Friday Mar 2, the British paper "The Independent" ran this story- "Scientists shocked to find antibiotics alleviate symptoms of schizophrenia
Chance discovery of link between acne drug and psychosis may unlock secrets of mental illness" Read the story and you will find that the subject is not schizophrenia but rather neuroinflammation. It has been discussed here more than once, along with microglia and most everything covered in this tale of "shocked scientists".

Will they ever start looking at what all these neuro related "incurable diseases" share in common? Doesn't response to microbial antibiotic influencing inflammation just ever so slightly suggest immune system? peripheral inflammation?
BTW, Minocycline for PD started in 2003 now in stage II with no further info?!? It did pass both safety and efficacy requirements of FDA. Further, to link schizophrenia and PD beyond dopamine perhaps...it is now being recorded in the literature that de novo or non-drugged people with schizophrenia experience both dyskinesia and Parkinsonism early on before psychosis creeps in. If the hypotheses of schizophrenia mandates excess dopamine how in the heck can the converse be true? How is that both an excess of dopa in one disease and lack of it in another?!?
