Default Weekly Check-In April 8-14, 2007

Hi Everyone..Not a whole lot to report this week, as far as anything new anyway..I got my boat in the water this week and have been busy all week building some fish traps, and buying supplies to build them..Its kinda tedious work, but its good to get outside and get busy

My cat is doing ok..She had a vet appointment this week, and her blood sugar was still high, so the Dr upped the insulin 2 more units per day..Shes been eating well, and is alert, so that is good

Im down to the last few pages of MJF's book "Lucky Man", where he talks about finally going public with his illness, and eavsdropping on a certain chatroom.. ..It is a great read for sure..especially if you have pd

Ive been taking DM for about 2 months now, and continue to experience a reprieve from some of my symptoms..My level of fatigue as of late is not as bad as it had been..Ive been finding that dozing off for about 45 minutes every afternoon on the couch while watching tv is enough to get me through the rest of the day, and that is an improvement considering my level of physical activity presently..If I take a 1-2 hour nap its even better..I see my neuro on Wednesday..It should be intersting, and I still havent decided what if anything I am going to say about the DM..I'll figure that out when I get there I guess

How was your week?

Poor kitty...I assume you are giving your injections...hard on both of you!! Takes a while to get it right...the glucose level that is. The biggest problem I have with my son's cat is that he sheds his very long white fur...like this!!

It is so Spring-like outside these past few days...as will be the next few days...the temp didn't get above 40 today. It will snow for the next three days at my NYS daughter's house, and we have had flurries since Thursday.

Spent 48 hours, yesterday and today, with my three grands (5, 6 and 9) so mom and dad could go into Philly for an anniversary weekend. Oh my gosh! Why do we grandparents do these things to ourselves. I do enjoy it, even though by the second day I am not worth a toot and getting up off the sofa is a laborous task, as is getting up off the floor after helping to sort 100s of Legos And, I don't sit down more than 10 min a hour...so, begs the question, why bother to sit down at all

Had my followup CT scan of my neck lymph nodes this past week to compare the Jan 8th scan. Crossing my fingers it is clear, or the next step is an oncology surgeon opinion in Hershey

Going through the process of attempting to qualify for the Ceregene Phase II trial.

Volunteered for a board position with a local organization...hope I, and they, don't regret it!!

My son leaves for Iraq in the next four days. Some of his personal belongings will arrive tomorrow.

Hoping your Spring is springing!

Wink this week

Steve, good luck to you and your kitty. Our new "Mr. Kitty" seems to be fitting right in. Somehow we lucked out (?) and got another 'talking cat' . He lets us know what he thinks of just about everything. (this is ok except when i get up at 0400 and he thinks my husband should be up as well ... meow meow meow - and yes, he shuts up once everyone is up!)

Carolyn - you will be in my thoughts & prayers: son in Iraq, lymph nodes, & possible clinical trial! Best wishes on all fronts.

Hi Everyone,
Steve glad to here your cat is doing better. We've got a black lab mix that has got a taste for cats. He is fenced in now but I still find the occasional cat laying in the yard where they used up thier 9 lives tempting fate.

I've been trying to get my art show/auction off the ground. It's been one thing after another. Now for some reason our permitt is being held up. I'm about ready to go postal on someone. I hope everyone doesn't have to go through this. If so, I'm amazed there are ever any events out there.

As for my PD symptoms, its shakin', quakin', and stumblin' as usual. The good thing is I haven't had a fall in almost 6 months now. We reduced the amount of Sinemet I'm taking and adjusted the timing of it. I don't know why but it's working.

Take care,

GregD

Hi Steve

I'll lend you this one.

Is this how Hillary plans to bring about peace?

I was thinking..I hope nobody takes offense to my humor, because most of it is political..But politicians are always the best targets, and it doesnt matter what party they are affliated with..Besides..Half of Hollywood is in rehab..They all have their bonehead moments..I thought maybe the one I posted last week was a little over the top..but when I saw Rove hip hoppin' and rappin' on the news last week, especially with the dark cloud following him around lately..I just couldnt let that one slip by..
