Pennsylvania could lose 1,894 jobs and $113.5 million in critical National Institutes of Health (NIH) biomedical research investment if Congress fails to act, according to United for Medical Research. This would not only be devastating on local economies, but could also jeopardize years of critical research and better treatments and a cure for Parkinson’s and many other diseases.
If Congress doesn’t take action and sequestration’s across-the-board cuts go into effect, the NIH faces up to an 8% budget cut. This issue will remain a top priority throughout the fall, and it is important that you tell Congress that the health of your state and the nation cannot bear the burden of these across-the-board cuts!! |
