Default Curcumin

Hi All,
OK, I admit it!!! LOL.
Yes, I have been taking curcumin now for some 5 to 6 years. I have definitely improved over that period, but like all of us, I have periodically tried other supplements. I do believe however the improvements are due to curcumin. I used to take up to 800mg of L-dopa per day, now I take 200 to 300mg. I used to have to crawl during the night to the bathroom, now I walk.
I could not pick up a fork with my left hand, now I can. I had difficulty driving and my wife would drive me. Now I drive regularly. This week I again went a walk with the dog before I took my morning meds. I can go on demanding holidays. Tahiti for 16 days last month, meaning a total flying time of 40 hours. Two weeks booked in Crete in 2 weeks time.
I have had PD for 16 years now. I am now over 70 years old, so I am battling old age as well as PD. The improvements were not immediate. It took at least months before I saw definite improvements. However, I have posted previously that it is very safe, having passed 6 human safety trials. It is a multifunctional supplement, a powerful antioxidant, an antii-inflammatory, a strong chelator of heavy metals, and it tightens up the pores of the BBB.
Today, I will be standing for 2 hours in Canterbury city centre with a collecting tin, collecting for PD research.
Best wishes
Ron

I am sorry to have to ask you as I am sure you have posted elsewhere but cannot face going through all your posts .How much cucumin do you take? My husband has been taking it ever since I noticed you posted about it but want to make sure he is taking the best dosage. At present we do not know if his improvement is temporary, wishful thinking or whether it is DM cucumin or ala/alc.(See other postings)

Default It helps me.

I've taken Curcumin for more than two years now, and I have no doubt at all that I can thank it - and Ron - for feeling better now than I did two years ago.
The dosage is 1500 mg per day of Curcumin with Peperine, from IHerb, a web store with the best selection.
I had to start Curcumin slowly, 500 mg per day to begin with, as it cleaned out my system quite thoroughly. It took me several weeks to reach 1500 mg per day without stomach rebellions.
I can recommend it highly.

Default Curcumin

Thanks Birte for giving the dosage information, and your positive evaluation of curcumin. Really, I don't know the optimum dose, I just know it has been tested up to much higher levels and found to be safe. It needs a full clinical trial to find the optimum dose.
Englishcountrydancer, How long has your husband been taking it, what dose has he used and what improvements has he seen?

Default Written with fingers crossed.

Going by the amount of cucumin tablets he has taken I would guess he has taken them for about 4 months. We have a problem in that there are so many variables to say why he seems to be a little better. He takes 500mg of cucumin with 3mg of bioperine.BUT combined with this he takes a supplement called Alpha from Higher Nature which containsALC/ALA.Additionally with this he takes their high dose anti oxidant tablets and two cod liver oil capsules.Last thing at night he takes I teaspoon of cough medicine containing D.M.His only prescibed medication is Requip ;4mg 4 mg 4mg and 1 mg plus propranol for the tremor.I must admit that we thought it was the D.M that caused the improvement as he is sleeping so much better with no early morning wakefulness. It may be that he is not now fighting off winter ills .I do not know but it did my heart good to see him stride across the car park today .I must remember that it is early days yet and not very far down the road as he has been diagnosed just under 3 years. He was a marathon runner but can still use the treadmill/cross trainer and still exercises vigourously for about 40 minutes most days and plays his squeeze boxes about 2 hours a day.Interestingly as he plays by ear he says the music overcomes the P.D.I have rambled on a bit but I think you need the full picture.I the cause of science he should drop all supplements except one but he is so well I am loathed to advise that. Thanks for your interest and help.

Default Ron, how much curcumin?

Hi Ron, your exprience with curcumin is encouraging. How much do you take each day and who do you buy it from? Is any form of curcumin better than another?
Ashley

Default Wishful tinking?

After that long ramble:forgive me folks,I forgot to mention improvements. He is sleeping deeply for longer with less daytime sleepiness.Gait appears to be better:heel goes down first and he tremors less often although when he does it is just as great. But many changes seen so subtle as to be hardly worth mentioning in case they are just wishful thinking. Oh just lets just hope.
