Dancer, thanks for your encouragement. I only personally know one other PWP who is also considering the Ceregene trial. After the Q&A on 5/2 I will make a decison to go or no-go.

Hi Todd,
I think your weather report was incorrect! I'm in DC and heading to NY for the walk this Friday. So far, the reports here say it's going to be mild (60 degrees) and mostly sunny. Keep your fingers crossed! I hope you feel well enough to participate. This will be my first PD event since my January diagnosis. My family and a bunch of my friends are joining me, so I'm really looking forward to it!

Boy, I don't know what weather reports you're looking at but the ones I see say rain from Wednesday (when we get in) through Friday, then partly cloudy on Saturday with a slight chance of rain as well. I'm leaving 80+ degree weather for that! Ugh...

Even if the rain screws up the sightseeing, maybe we get lucky and Saturday it's at least not pouring for the Unity Walk...

Todd, I have been having migraines since I started taking PD meds (I started on selegiline and then Sinemet). There's not much you can do about it, except avoid some foods (i.e. aged cheese, chocolate, anything with monosodium glutamate in it, wine and most alcoholic beverages, raisins...check out migraine web sites).
I take naratriptan, which is very strong, and within two hours I'm back in business.
Take care
Teresa

Default Just checkin in...

Still here, still posting, still mostly sane...I think.

Todd: I rememeber once that Everett said something to the effect that the generic drugs often have fillers that can cause allergic reactions. If you are taking the generic sinemet it may have something to trigger an allergy in your system. (yes allergies do appear all of a sudden out of the blue) Have your Dr. give you a perscription for a few of the brand name sinemet and see if it makes a difference. Just a thought. If all else fails, try fasting for a few days.

Geez - all the things I love!

They gave me a migraine medicine called Immitrex but my migraines come on so fast that if I don't take it within minutes I'm out of luck.

I still think there's a relationship between PD and migraines somehow...

Rosebud - a few people have told me the same thing. I'm still dealing with my health insurance and finding a neuro that has a clue about PD, so it may be awhile before I get to ask for brand and not generic, but can guarantee you it's at the top of my list.

What makes you believe fasting may help? Thanks...

Ginger tea can help with the sickness and I take Paracetamol Plus (with caffeine) for my migraines which have increased from twice a year to twice a week since I started PD meds. The paracetamol Plus give me PVC's (premature ventricular contractions) but have decided I can cope with them better than a 16 hour migraine and thankfully they usually stop the migraine within about 2 hours!!

I agree with Teresa she is spot on with the foods to avoid especially anything with alcohol in it
I even avoid using aftershaves which have an alcoholic base.
