Default Weekly Check-In April 29-May 5, 2007 Welcome New Community Members

Hi Everyone..Welcome to our new members!..Make yourselves at home!..We are happy to meet you

Well Ive been..you guessed it..Fishing..I got out a couple of days this week, and have been bringing my traps out, trying to catch some bait to get going..The new boat is so much easier and stabler to work out of, and I am thrilled about that!

I didnt get to the Unity Walk in Central Park this year..There wasnt enough interest in the trip for Team Rhode Island, so they didnt bother chartering a bus!..Thats a major bummer!!..We're gonna have to do something about that next year

Went to my support group meeting this morning, and we had a go around the table and talk about whats going on in our lives session..Our facillitator, and group founders' health has been failing, and he wants to spend the time with his family, so he gave up as facilitator of the group..So I unanimously got nominated to be the facillitator for todays meeting..I think I know whats coming next..How did I get so deeply involved in the pd community's affairs without hardly even trying?.. ..The same thing happens in AA..and the same way..

Nothing much else new..the cat is doing well..eating like a horse again..sticking her nose, and sneaking her paw onto my plate..

How was your week?

Hi Steve, hi all! Love Hugh Grant, but he should have taken the lid off the Tupperware container and spill the beans on that stalking photographer.

I've had a quiet, rainy week, while my hubby was in Germany, on Munich's BAUMA machinery fair. It was cool in Spain and hot in Germany...what's the world coming to?

Since May 1st is Labour Day and therefore a holiday (get the contradiction?), most people take Monday off to make a mini-vacation from April 28 through May 2nd, and that's we will do and go to Bilbao to stay with some friends a couple of days. Just packing for 2 days is a logistics nightmare for me: spring weather here is so unpredictable, I have to pack warm clothes just in case, but I also have to pack summer clothes, because my autonomous nervous system has ceased to regulate my body temperature and I go from hot flashes and profuse sweating to ice cold hands, feet and face in a matter of minutes. The best way to cope so far is a sweater over my shoulders that can I can put on or take off instantly.
I swear, Steve, those oldfashioned knitted shawls of my country relatives (remember that picture?) are by far the most intelligent and practical solution!

Default hi all

Hello Everyone,

I had a great week! Our "Wild West" program went very well. I even participated in the square dance. Field day was loads of fun. I ran the
races with the kiddies. We all go a little sunburned, since it was a warm
sunny day that day.

I am still fighting hard against this awful disease....

LOL,

Mary Frances

Quiet week here, but also an rainy one. The plants I bought last weekend are still sitting where they were and unplanted. Today we finally have a clear sky and the sun is shining. No, sun and all, I won't be planting today, this is a work day...darn it...HAVE to finish my EGA guild website today!!

I made a firm commitment to myself this week to turn my second bedroom into my sewing room...not machine, but by hand sewing...and start designing, while I can still use a fine needle. So, I have been on a quest in search of the right work table. We have a wonderful used furniture shop here. The owner takes great care to obtain from auction good used furniture.

Spring has finally sprung here in the NE USA!

Hi all,

Just returned from the Unity Walk in New York. It was my first time attending and personally, I thought it was a pretty cool event. It's too bad NY is so expensive. Otherwise, I'm sure even more people with PD would attend. I'm glad I was able to make it and see lots of old friends and make many new ones. The weather was perfect that day and everyone was as kind and gracious as you could hope for. Davis Phinney, MJF, and Lonnie Ali all did a great job speaking. What a great time, but traveling cross country (and all that walking you have to do to get around NY) has really wiped me out. It'll take a while for my body to recover but well worth it.

Otherwise, still looking for a neuro within my health care plan that is willing to work my MDS, (who is outside of my plan), in order to get me the right care and meds. It's amazingly difficult (no one should have to fight this hard to get proper health care) but it is my health, so certainly worth fighting for.

Hope everyone is doing okay...
