Default Leg Cramps

Diagnosed with PD this year and confirmed with DATSCAN. PD involves my left arm. I am 62 and have other issues including diabetes and low thyroid. I am currently taking Sinemet 25/100mg four 1 four times a day. A few days ago, I started having really painful leg cramps in both legs involving calves and toes. Is this part of taking Sinemet or a PD problem? Any tips on how to prevent this?
Thanks.

Hi Jalto2, I have had PD for 16 yrs., I am 47 y/o. I do not get cramps but I have spastic tightening in my back and legs periodically. As opposed to cramping that may come and go this is just a constant state of tetany that does not loosen up with my levodopa. I don't know how to prevent your symptoms except to say try and notice what events may preclude these symptoms. For a while I was sweating a ton because of dyskinesia and had a lot of problems with potassium depletion. Hope it helps. Sorry to say welcome to the club you never want to join.

Default

sounds like sinemet side effects to me.

http://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed...rchiveid=53875

though dystonia is something many with pd suffer from, it doesnt usually come on suddenly..

good luck and welcome.
