my neuro says the same thing, but i still take it, recently started experimenting with 1.5pills so the dose is 300mg, seems to increase my on time with no dyskinesias. it's only been a week so can't really endorse this strategy yet. the CR has lower bioavailability than the the IR so i calculate the 300CR=210IR. and since protein taken too soon before or after my l-d0pa dosage negates the affect i am having to watch when/what i eat very carefully, what a drag. would luv to add an agonist, can't, puts me to sleep. might be able to tolerate neupro but can't afford it.

i have noticed there seems to be sig. differences between the 50/200 generics, at least for me, the MYLAN brand works better for me, i think the other generic is made in india.

Default Rytary

Hi,
My name is David, I am a 55 man diagnosed in 1999 with PD. Does anyone know what the difference between Rytary and Sinemet CR? Also is there anyone in the group who was part of an FDA trial of Rytary, prior to its approval?

Hi. I was a participant in the trials of IPX-066, now called Rytary. It worked really well for me. I was really upset that Impax couldn't find a way for trial participants to continue to receive the limited amount of trial drugs they were able to produce while they fixed their large scale manufacturing process. The multi-year delay is very painful.

I'm hoping that the company will do the right thing this time around and see that the people who took the risks to participate in the trials are given early access to Rytary at reasonable costs.

illbethere, thank you for the information about your participation in the IPX-066 trials. It will be available for everyone on Feb. 23, which is less than three weeks.

just curious, what drug regime were you using before you started the trial, i.e., can you compare it against other pd drugs you have taken? none of the RYTARY trials compared it against stalevo or sinemet-cr or taking both regular sinemet and sinemet CR. i guess one can go back to the original CR and STALEVO trials and compare results to RYTARY.

I hope you're correct about the fact that it will be available on Feb 23? Has the company published this date?

I was taking Sinemet. I tried stalevo but had a bad reaction and discontinued it. I'm currently taking Sinemet CR. It doesn't seem very effective.

fwiw, i recommend the mylan brand of 50/200 sinemet cr. it's blue, i was given a different brand, orange colored, which seemed less effective. i think rytary contains immediate and controlled release C/L, you might want to add some immediate release to your regime. have you tried that?

I currently take a combination of sinemet and sinemet CR during the day. Rytary is a combination of immediate and controlled release C/L too. One benefit I experienced with Rytary during the trials was that I only took 3 doses per day (as opposed to six with sinemet and sinemet CR). Also. I could eat whenever I wanted. My PD symptoms were also much better controlled with Rytary.
