Default creatine

I started creatine about 18 months ago. My Internal Medicine Doctor commented he took creatine when he was young and a weight lifter and if you didn't drink lots of water it could give you Kidney Stones. Three months on it I developed the most painful experience of my life. It was my first Kidney Stone 2mm. It required laser blasting. I have not used creatine since and have not had another kidney stone. I can't prove cause and effect but just a warning to those who use creatine.

The results of a recently-published clinical trial show that taking creatine as a dietary supplement has no health benefits for people with PD: http://jama.jamanetwork.com/article....icleid=2108890 .

creatine was shown to not be disease modifying, same with COQ10 at 2400mg daily. taken together, who knows? that's the problem with pd, since no absolute biomarkers and symptoms don't appear until years after it starts, tough to find a benefit unless a big affect and/or large number of trial participants. TEVA with all it's billions couldn't get AZILECT approved by FDA to slow down progression after a large clinical trial.

Default Different studies are measuring different PD aspects

Kiwi --

While I agree the study you cited found no benefit for PWPs, it did not measure MCI via MoCA and based its findings on multiple factors -- not just MCI .... the study I posted apparently ONLY measured PD-MCI changes via MoCA ... a very focused inquiry.

These are very different studies which came to very different conclusions. They could both be valid without any conflict.

As ST points out, a combination of creatine and coq10 was tested here making any other study comparisons difficult.
