i posted the thread "APRIL 11 Parkinson's Disease Educational Symposium 2015 UFC".
they tested the pump, in the presentation a nurse that talks about it, maybe an hour into the presentation? she stated no for everyone but some people who were in wheelchairs could now walk, since it is turned off at night you have to have a caregiver to help you reconnect the pump in the morning, at least for her institution. she didn't sound like she was trying to sell it, i think she said she had worked with dozens of patients. sounds like your're near UFC. interesting that she said in the morning everyone gets a big dose as a jump start. i think conductor71 got the pump |

Does "the pump" actually work when you eat protein? I chose DBS because I had a problem with eating and I was told that it wouldn't help that. I thought that was supposed to be one of the benefits. thanks..

If you are sensitive with protein, you can defeat the Duodopa pump by eating too much meat or fish for example. That being said, recovery is quicker, and with the fact you can bypass your stomach and deliver a med shot right at the start of your small intestine anytime -if you time it right you precede the protein can prevent med absorption issues. It takes some practice to understand how best to time those shots.
