I think dysbiosis occurs from a combination of factors, antibiotics, fluoride and water chlorination. Rebuilding a micro biome requires more than a good probiotic, it requires feacal transplants.
My mother was an early participant in the 23andme PD study. Her results showed no genetic predisposition for PD, so her PD was environmental. She had lifelong constipation, which I read can be a heralding symptom of PD. Chia seed was the cure and it is my observation that when she became regular her PD plateaued. |

If the vagus nerve serves as a governor to the autonomic nervous system wouldn't it also play a large role in peristalsis?
IMHO the single biggest player in our health is a healthy energetic/electric/chi flow.

Just wondering why after about 6 yrs of Sinemet, its effectiveness is reduced. I read that helicobactor pylori may affect l-dopa metabolism. So I thought changes in gut bacteria populations through chronic use of Sinemet could affect its pharmacokinetics.

l-dopa sure must be a wonder drug to worry people so much. l-dopa (sinemet), technically it doesn't lose effectiveness, you just have to take more and more often as there are less and less cells in your brain that can affect it's symptom relief. the analogy would be doesn't matter how much air you breath if you don't have a lung - the air isn't the problem, it's still "effective". your're taking at the most 1.5grams of l-dopa, a simple amino acid which even if converted to dopamine in your intestine is really a tiny amount of amino acid when compared to what's in bread, cheese, eggs or meat. i think an egg has 30grams of protein/amino acids? l-dopa isn't an antibiotics nor would i think it would change pH or encourage the growth of one bacteria over another. maybe there's some research on this and maybe i'm wrong. now constipation, slow gastric emptying, not getting enough fluids, fiber, etc. which can occur more often in people with pd, i assume can affect the intestinal flora. just my opinion, not an expert. |

I wonder if Sinemet could be delivered sublingually and if it would be more effective. http://www.parkinson.org/Patients/Pa...ed-to-Know-abo |

Since I started taking 1.5 grams of vitamin B-1 (Thiamine) daily, a few months ago I no longer have constipation. It's wonderful and quite cheap!

That is a lot of B1, zanpar .. Any side effects you've noticed, and do you take a special form like bentifontamine or allithiamine?
Vitamin C or magnesium should also control constipation well. I take 5 grams of C to eminate shoulder pain and it probably keeps me regular.

B vitamins work together as a synergistic complex and they are dependent upon each other to work properly. Taking one B vitamin can create imbalances and deficiencies in the other Bs. |
