Tim is now home. He wants to be a doctor and seems to not let scenes of the horror of his job not affect him. The current is too rough now and most of the cars submurged are under concrete and there is nothing of the bodies to recover. Which is probably best for the waiting families, but I am sure they mist similiar to families who have family members missing in action. The schock of it all will make it hard for them to ever put closure to their family members who died so suddenly. I will join all of you to pray for God's strength.

Vicky - I am so happy for you that your son and his wife checked in safe. It sounds like the scene is very dangerous for rescuers right now; I hope your son will not face more danger.
To All: I received this email from Jackie, a friend and pwp in Minneapolis: "Dear family and friends -- This is just a quick note to let you know that we are all fine, but our hearts and prayers go out to those who were on the bridge or had loved ones involved in the bridge collapse. We are feeling especially lucky and blessed, since Paul (Jackie's husband) takes that bridge to and from work. Yesterday, he opted for a different route because of all the traffic on 35W south. He missed the collapse by about 15 minutes. This incident is one of those reminders that things can happen at any time, anywhere, so make every day count! Don't skimp on the hugs or the "thank-you's." Give blood, if possible. Take nothing for granted." Words we can take to heart - we are all a different route or 15 minutes from a life changed forever.

Thank you for your kind and thoughtful remarks regarding my son and all the families who are waiting for family members to be recovered from the cars. They have found 4 cars with sonar equipment and have sent divers into the river to check the car for bodies. They gave up in the morning but there is a damn close to the bridge and they will release some more water to lower the river to seven feet. The water is to murky for the divers to see anything.
They have a dangerous search and recovery ahead. Please continue to pray for them, and please ask your church leader to pray for the families in church come Sunday. I believe in the power of prayer. It may not change the situation, but God is listening and his will be done. Trust that those who have died are with him in heaven. Love, Vicky |
