Will you please stop trying to get back on topic?
I like this Ahlskog guy; sounds like a realist - understands that we need sinemet because it's the only thing that is available, but also knows that it's not the definitive answer, and is willing to say unpopular things about it. That takes guts in the back-slapping, good old boys world of PD research. Mavericks are not well tolerated (see: M. Hutchinson).

Read any good books lately? I noticed in the full article that Dr. A referred to Angell, a fave of mine. Ooops, that's relevant.
well how about food? we could talk about food. chicken makes me go off worse than beef. why are they still expecting us to eat our Sinemet anyway? oops, relevant again! Your turn! |

I don't know about everybody else, but I find the latest postings to be annoying and childish. Most people check in here for the information about pd, and not for the gotcha attitude. This clannish attitude is probably why most of us lurkers do not post more often.

I'm sorry if you are annoyed but i won't take responsibility for anyone not participating in the forum. For every childish post I make, there are scores of informational posts. I learned a long time ago that you can't please everyone and it's not my responsibility to do so.
And furthermore, yes, we DO know each other, we have been at the board for almost 10 years. should we not know each other? Life is too short, i am just going to be myself. IF you don't like that I can't help it - if you don't like the friendliness, the humor, is that my fault? Is a certain language required here? I would rather see you just accept it, even join in one time, but telling others what and how to post is exactly what this forum has worked very hard to mature and evolve into being able to accept others as they are. We've all had our grumpy moments. And yes, I realize the last sentence is a stretch to follow.........

What have you been doing the last while but tell someone else what and what not to post? Maybe you have known each other a long time, but some things are best sent by pm. We told our children what we were told as children--jokes at someone elses expense are not funny--they are cruel.
I get the impression that the only opinions allowed without jabs are the ones with which several "buddies" agree. |

Having spent my share of time lurking I don't want to overdo this, but if it weren't for those of us who do post, including the ones I disagree with, this forum would long ago have evaporated. And some of us have, indeed been here a long time and I think they have the right to protest when they see things being pushed in a bad direction by a minority. Note that I don't count myself as an "old head" having just hung around for three or four years, but some of these folks have earned certain rights including respect. We should respect our elders.

Sorry I was so harsh in putting my points across. I thank you for the suggestion that I advocate, but I lack a number of assetts needed:
1. Money for trips 2. Take time away from my family. My husband is sick to death of accomodating my PD symptoms, but is understanding and is working with me to keep our marraige stable. (17 years) I must take his feelings into consideration. 3. I can't advocate for one class of persons when their is so much greater need for others to get help, ie., Cancer, Diabetes, ALS, depression. The list goes on and on. Have to go to bed now as I just got back from the doctor's and was diagnosed with pneunomonia. Need to rest awhile. Paula and Jaye, enjoy your giggle fest. Vicky |
