Default Weekly Check-In Dec 16-22, 2007 Welcome New Community Members

Hi Everyone!..And a warm welcome to our new community members!!

Let it snow..Let it snow..Let it snow....Yup..We got 8" inches last Thursday nite..It came down at an inch an hour right from the starting gate, and our little state was a mess in short order..The snow plows didnt get out early enough, and the interstate was a mess during rush hour..accidents..break downs..abandoned vehicles..and on the 11:00 pm news there were kids on shcool busses who still weren't home from school yet..It took me 2 hours to clean my driveway, and because I didnt have to use the snowblower last winter, I couldnt get it started..Finally, I took the spark plug out, and poured a little bit of gas in the cylinder, put the plug back in, and pulled the cord, and she started right up....and stayed running!..

Ive still been taking my conch traps out of the water, and Ive got one more load to go, and two loads of crab traps, and I'll be done

We had our X-mas party at my support group this afternoon..about 15 people showed up, the food was good and we have a chorus group that comes every year and sing Christmas songs..Jim Finn..(the guy who had the pig stem cell transplant)..was able to make it..He isnt doing as well as he was a few years ago..but hes still walking, and not back in a wheelchair like he was 11 years ago..I had a great time, and it was good to see a few folks that I havent seen in a while

How was your week?

Default Where did everyone go?

Hi Steve,

I read your post three hours ago, but had to go play a concert. I was amazed to find no one had responded to your post yet. I wish I were good posting pictures like you so I could show you all the snow we have had. It is piled all the way up to the bottom edge of the stop signs in Minnesota. Not to mention it was -10.

I am once more suffering breathing difficulties. My doctor is referring me to an endocrinologist as I have high calcium levels in my blood and she thinks I may be borderline for hyperparathyroidism. Say that five times fast! Anyone else been diagnosed with the disease? How were you treated?

Am lucky and will get to see my three sons (no, not the TV show) over the Christmas holidays. My first grandson turns 1 this month. He should be easy to shop for.

Thanks, Steve, for keeping this forum user friendly. How is everyone else doing?

Vicky

Well I finally got enough ice and snow chipped of the lines to get a signal through. We don't have as much snow as Minnesota. We got 5+ inches yesterday then freezing rain all night. Then we got another 3 - 4 inches this morning. Now the wind is about 40 mph. I gotta find a better place to live.

Life is as about as normal as it gets with PD. I'm shakin and quakin along. Nothing new to report there.

We had a light dusting of snow last night and it is VERY cold for here. Not only do I have my two horses to take care of, but I'm taking care of a neighbor's horse and aging labrador. Since I had the DBS my tremor hardly exists, except when I get cold. Tonight I was trying to buckle straps on horse blankets and I was shaking so much that it took forever. My horses know that I don't do well in the cold and stand perfectly still for all my fumbling. The neighbor's horse, however, is another matter. I finally gave up on blanketing him. If he won't stand still for me, he'll just have to be cold tonight.

I watched the Patriots win this afternoon and had a very pleasant day.

Default weekly check in

Greetings all, We have had the same weather as Greg. I am thankful I did not have to leave the house at all today. Am visiting my mother in southwest Louisiana on Tuesday, and look forward to both seeing my mother and experiencing a much warmer climate.
Happy holidays. madelyn

Default Packing My Bags

Hello friends,
It is winter in Norway , dark and short days, today it is 11 C cold degrades . How much is that in Fahrenheits ?
I am confused and very intense trying to pack my suitcase for my Christmas-journey to Portugal. What a mess with all the presents ,special food, what should I wear and why must I have 5 dresses ?
Men have a more easy way of life without all this dresses. This PD makes it not so simple to have the survey when you are travelling, it`s the stress that makes my brain like "Teflon" I think.

Today have been great, I have managed to writhe 12 letters to my friends ,Christmas can come, everyone gets a letter- ,not easy to tell about yourself and your life , difficult to be honest so I `do not tell so much or I am not so honest.
Very good for me that I CAN BE HONEST IN THIS FORUM, and you understand.

Hi vertigo,

Two friends of this forum, who don't post much anymore are in Norway. They are there visiting her brother and family - Greg and Ann Wasson. They will be there until January but I have no address or anything.

Have a great time on your trip! Take all of the dresses...one must have a choice.

Hello, guys and gals. This is a great time of year, even with the miserable, cold weather. Madelyn has the right idea, go south! Even in northern Louisiana, we have had freezing weather the last two nights. We have made good use of the fireplace. Tomorrow we drive to Dallas to pick up our 13-year old grandson who will be flying down from Seattle for the holidays. We are looking forward to his visit.
Best holiday wishes to each of you!
Robert
