It is generally acknowledged that the red tulip is a symbol for PD. But the U.S. doesn't have one symbol representing all PWP.

Karen Painter, a young-onset PWP from washington state created a beautiful tulip design. (below)



There is a grassroots effort now to spread this graphic far and wide in the hopes that one day it will represent all pwp. Some PD orgs are having lapel pins made for their members. Other orgs are using it on their websites, and for flyers for upcoming events.

If you'd like a copy of the graphic to use for PD flyers or events or websites, let me know, and I'll send you one to use.

I think the bulb should be purple /lavender in color. Joan Synder would know. Thats the only thing that MIGHT bbe wrong with it. Other than that its a great idea!! I'd like one please.

luv it! Saw it on APDA Midwest Chapter Symposium literature. Agree the tulip should be red. Folks sometimes come up with their own colors for PD ribbons, etc. depending whether young onset or not, but ... the tulip should be red.

The tulip is THE symbol for PD in Canada. Glad it's becoming more nationally recognized in US.

I didn't know tulips were connected to PD in any way. Tulips are my favorite flower, and the graphic is wonderful. Thanks for posting about this.

Yes you may use the tulip for pd education - as part of your artwork. Whenever possible, please give credit to "Karen Painter" who designed the tulip and wants it to be used for PD awareness. Karen has copyrighted the design - but is allowing people to freely use it!
