at any rate, if the following link has already been mentioned, my apologies. otherwise, for what it's worth, and for anyone trying to assess DOPAVITE, here's kathrynne holden's take. for the record, no personal experience here -- i too have been considering the stuff....

(oops, apparently i can't post links. so here's tricking the system (sorry, DocJohn & admins -- just remove the blank from the http.... )

cheers,

Default Curious, I'm curious...

...What is the reason for the no-links policy? I know other sites do it almost jealously but I doubt that is the case here. Is it to prevent the site from becoming a giant MLM billboard as I suspect?

Default Dopavite

[QUOTE=Muireann;243807]Hi everyone,

I would like to know if any of you have had success with Dopavite? I was dx'd with PD in 2003. For the past five years I have been medicated with Selegiline (Eldypryl), and Stilnoct and more recently with Mirapexin, to the max dose. Since early Jan 2008 I have been off all PD drugs.

I took Dopavite for the past number of years and continue to take it. I am doing very well, particularly since I got off the PD drugs.

My initial dx of PD was made by clinical exam and verified by DaTScan on two occasions, the second one showed progression to the other side of my brain.

I am not totally symptom free yet, but I am greatly improved and leading an essentially normal life now.

Hello Muireann
I have just discovered DOPAVITE today and this forum also.
Your report on Dopavite is very interesting. I've been on Madopar for 6 years now and have recently changed to Stalevo. Since my symptons worsened about 18 mths ago these medications don't have much effect.
I notice you took Dopavite at the same time as your PD drug. Can you tell me in what quantities and how long before completely stopping the PD drug ?
Also I've tried e-mailing VITALOGIC but none of the addresses get through. Do you have an e-mail address for the company.
Thanks

Question So Who Continues to Get Results from Dopavite

I am really new to PD issues and would like to know if anyone is still using Dopavite? I believe my husband will soon be diagnosed with PD and would like to hear something regarding Dopavite that is newer than the last posting. He asked me to order it but I wanted to do some research first.

Default dopavite and iron

we are reluctant to take anything with iron in its make up. seems the role of iron in dopamine metabolism as well as neuromelanin is not completely understood, though there is evidence that it is an important element. whether there is a deficit or excess or metabolic glitch in its utilization, I have no idea. we choose to not use it as a supplement.

I am 1.5 years off all PD drugs, including l-dopa. Still have lots of problems but definitely better off than when I was on the meds. I have taken Dopavite since shortly after dx in 2003, sx since about 2000. Took 2 yrs just to get a neuro appt, privately.

The more distance I put between myself and the meds, the more sensitive I become to missing a dose of Dopavite. It is definitely not the whole story, but bottom line remains - don't take meds.
